I’m a bit of a crazy book-loving gal. I have SO many books – despite culling when we moved six weeks ago. My passion is really craft books and childrens books – I could not name a favourite, it’s just impossible. I think that’s why my official favourite book is ‘Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life’ by Amy Krouse Rosenthal – because it is one of the few ‘grown up’ books i’ve read in the last few years – and I don’t have to choose betwixt my ultra-faves.
Around the traps some other lovely books are being touted:
Amy Karol at Angry Chicken is enjoying the delicious Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day: The Discovery That Revolutionizes Home Baking
Belladia has lots on her list. The Art and Flair of Mary Blair: An Appreciation is one I have earmarked too. And she has some beautiful crocheted conversation hearts, complete with tutorial!
Lovely Alicia at Posy Gets Cosy is talking about her very own nearly finished book! But she’s also recommending Crooked Little Heart
Soulemama has Ed Emberley’s Drawing Book of Weirdos on her blog, as well as The Creative Family (her own book too!) Plus there are some good donuts over there – go see for yourself!
What’s your favourite book? I’ll start a little list in my sidebar called Bloggers Books later today – let me know if you want to be in it!
xx Mikes

My book club just did ‘In My Skin’ by Kate Holden, which was pretty good, it got us talking anyway! My favourite design book is Cath Kidston in Print. But my all-time favourite book would have to be Scenes Behind the Museum by Kate Atkinson. I laughed, I cried, I shouted out loud in outrage at the author!

My year 12 book was How many miles to Babylon which I loved & still love.

What a great idea! Just wrote a post on my fav children’s books. I’ve started reading -The time travellers wife > promising. Just finished- The Wife stripped bare > Blah.
My favorite book of all time is The Awakening Land trilogy (The Trees, The Fields and The Town)by Conrad Richter. Sayward Luckett is my role model.
My other favorites are Heidi by Johanna Spyri and, oh …. too many! I can’t even think. I always want to eat toasted goat cheese and drink a bowl of fresh milk when I read Heidi.
Hello!
My all-time fave is 1984 by George Orwell and current fave is Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer (Molly and I almost frightened customers one afternoon because we got so excited chatting about that book)
I am currently reading Tully by Paulina Simons, A book of short stories by Woody Allen, Audrey Hepburn’s Biography and A Stephen King book from the 70’s That is surprisingly ok.
Have an awesome, relaxing day!
I too love The Cider House Rules.
My all time favourites are A Prayer for Owen Meany, The Book Thief and How to be a Domestic Goddess.
A book I read in Year 12 for school is one of my favourites.
Remembering Babylon by John Malouf. I went to hear him speak a while back and he wasn’t what I was expecting. The book is hard at first, I almost hated it and didn’t both to read it, but it is so lovely and has such a good message. It it about a Scottish Settlement in Bowen, QLD in the 19th century.
Another favourite is Stephy A’s Cooks Companion. I love this book and it is one of the few times I will strictly follow a recipe (Unless I’m making bread or cake, then I don’t have a choice!)
Oh and I have a book about Dan Eldon, it is one of his journals. He was killed in Africa a while back, but his artwork is amazing.

Oh and the big blue Brett Whiteley book, that was on loan in Year 12 for the whole year, then my Mum got it for me. Smart lady.
Oh and Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain because the before and after shots that I could show my Year 9s as proof my crazy “don’t look at your drawing, only look at the object you’re drawing” were actually helping them.
Oh and the Melways, because if I didn’t have one I would be late by hours rather than minutes.
Thanks for organising the drinks last night, it was a great time and I wish I could have stayed longer.
My favourite book and has been for a couple of years is- Blessed are the Cheesemakers by Sarah Kate Lynch. I will give it a wee review and add a list of my other favs to my blog. Hope you girls all had a good night last night.Cheers
A few of my favourite books are:
