Hello Social Justice softies for mirabel

I heart Mirabel Window!

February 10, 2008

We have lots of hearts arriving this week – and lots in the window already! A really nice lady came in yesterday, to let us know that The Mirabel Foundation were currently supporting her and her two children – and have been for some time.

She was really amazed that so many people cared enough to make a heart for Mirabel. It was great to meet someone who could tell us a bit more about Mirabel, from their own personal experience. We had a bit of a chat about how addiction can take many different forms, and how most people are touched by someone’s addiction issues, no matter what walk of life they might be from.

The Mirabel Foundation supports families affected by substance abuse – and particularly assists children from those families.

If you’d like to help us raise funds and awareness for Mirabel, it’s easy! Make a heart from anything you like. To the heart attach a little tag – and finish the following lines on it:

Hello, my name is…
I heart….
I wish for….

All hearts will go on sale for $10 each – from the Mikes window on Saturday 8th March at 10am. On the 10th of March, we’ll list a selection of hearts for sale online too – for interstate or overseas buyers. Have a heart, and buy handmade!

You can send your heart to Meet Me at Mikes, 63 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy, 3065, Victoria, Australia!

More photos and details over here!

xx mikes

I’ve just discovered your blog recently and have really been enjoying it – it’s so busy and colourful and there seems to be so much going on that I’ve barely scratched the surface of the archives and links. So thank you, and here’s a “you make my day” award just to show I mean it.
