Sometimes it helps to break things down – pull them out of your calendar and make some more detailed (possibly scrawly) notes – grab a pen and paper, adjust, tick things off and make plans for the next day too.
I find a Social Run Sheet can be a big help. While you have the bare bones of things toted up in your Editorial Calendar or Social Media Calendar – the run sheet is a more longhand way of tracking what’s going on today in your social media wonderland and can act as a more fluid plan for the day. You can also scrawl any additional social ideas in there – make notes on how your current posts are going – add ideas for interactions/shares for future days.
The idea is to get you thinking about and taking note of this social-relevant stuff as part of your daily workflow and record it, so that you always have ideas and notes to turn to. Nothing beats recording ideas and documenting progress/gains and this only takes a few minute a day. Then you can file these sheets away and refer back to them when you’re blanking out on what to post or what’s doing well.
You can use this sheet in conjunction with the printable weekly editorial calendar (below) if you like – between the two you will have your content and social media marketing covered.
We’ll talk about the best times to post and measuring/metrics in upcoming lessons – so stay tuned for that!
Extra tip:
Note that I include StumbleUpon as part of our social workflow? StumbleUpon is actually a great site for garnering extra traffic to your blog. It’s totally worth creating an account and adding your best posts over there (in the correct category) because you WILL get some traffic via Stumblers. Earlier this year I added a bunch of my crochet tutorials and recipe and I got thousands of extra visits. Perhaps you can do the same?
