Lesson Thirty: Make A Pledge! Dream A Dream!

Okay! We made it! High-five yourself! High-five me, even!

What I want you to know, now that we’re here, is that your blog can take you anywhere you want it to. It’s really true.

For me, my blog started off as a dinky little operation on MySpace, jumping across to Blogger in late 2006. I didn’t know where it would take me, but I was determined to have fun with it and I gleefully strapped myself in for the ride.

What a ride it’s been, so far. My blog became a kind of online folio AND cheer squad. It’s allowed me to share myself and my work with thousands and thousands of people I may never otherwise have.

My blog has helped me to write five books, zillions of blog posts, heaps of magazine articles and more. It’s got me on the radio, on TV and in a film, even. It’s helped me launch community projects, art projects, exhibitions and more. My blog has even helped me win an award or two and fly to ace places to teach people good stuff. How weird/cool, right?

I’m telling you this, not to be a show-off, but because YOU are as capable as I am. These opportunities present themselves to those who bravely put themselves out there. People like ME get to do good stuff because we expose ourselves (in a non nudey way), our thoughts, our hopes, our work, our dreams. And we work at it.

I’m not sure where you want your blog to take you, but what I am sure of is that you need to keep at it and keep being YOU on your blog, if you want a bit of a foot in the door.

There ARE STILL opportunities – no one has a monopoly on those – and dedication, innovation and honesty are what will get those opportunities flowing in your direction.

Make a pledge, to yourself, to head towards whatever your bloggy or creative dreams are. Make a note of that pledge, say it out loud often and keep at it, love.

You just DO NOT KNOW what lies around the corner for you, if you stick at it.

All my love to you. Happy blogging!
