Hello

my family and other animals…

January 2, 2008

Oh I truly-rooly hope that you all had a really lovely New Years! Whether you are into New Year’s Eve… or the more low-key New Year’s Day…. or all of the above….. may this year be the absolutely best ever for you and your family!

May all your socks match up after washing day, may all your toilet seats be down (or up, depending on your gender!), may all your letters not have little windows in the front – just scrawly handwriting and little love-hearts, may all your dogs not bark at night, may all your children sleep from 9pm til 6am, may all nits, cooties, mozzies, worms and other yick never show their faces (do they have faces?), may all your crafting flow like a calm, magical river, may all your babies be toilet trained overnight, may you all sneak an extra hour into the day that no-one can interrupt, may you all manage to read a really good book each month, may you all climb out of bed in the morning and find an imaginary friend who’s a makeup artist slash wardrobe assistant waiting to dress and pretty you up in only 12.5 seconds, may you all be happy and healthy and gay (or not gay, sup to you!). Happy happy best ever new year.

Here’s what we did! I decided this year due to a bit of tiredness and wanting-to-not-stay-up-til-midnight-ness, that New Years Day is the best thing to celebrate… So after a (blush!) 10pm bedtime on the big-fat-show-off that is NYE… we got up and went to the beach early on New Years Day…. followed by this dvd altogether in the cool of our lounge room… and then yum cha for lunch… and lo and behold we came out of Yum Cha (at King Bo on Russell St) and it had changed! No more 40 degrees…. we were down to the high twenties at last!

AND… if that wasn’t lucky enough, we had (half-price) organic turkey purchased at Macro on the 27th of December (use by 3rd Jan – never fear!) for dinner…. just to be extra festive! I LOVE NEW YEARS DAY! But NYE…. i think it’s a bit tooooooo everything. If you know what I mean!

Mikes Fitzroy re-opens tomorrow! So go visit! There’s heaps of STUFF… and it’s all crafty and nice!

xx mikes

What a lovely way to spend the first day of the year. The beach is at its best early in the morning and it looks particularly lovely and calm in your photos.
Happy New Year to you and yours, Pip.
