Hi Adorable Reader!
Choose-Day is a new feature on our blog. On Choose-Day we will show you 3 things we would Choose to buy our friends and family for Christmas. Gasp. I know. It is coming and why not embrace it, I say?! I think it’s even better to embrace it in a handmade or vintage way…. Support the little people and buy something unique with your Festive dollar! So let’s go..!
I give you our first Choose-Day (on a Tuesday, of course!)
Gemma Jones Gocco Prints (above)
Gemma Jones is, admittedly, a dear friend of mine. She is also an accomplished artist, writer and curator of Outre Gallery which now spans three states of Australia (yay for Outre!) Gemma has printed these lovely prints on vintage pages of some of your very favourite books (maybe!) :: they were printed in her Yarraville studio during a pretty special Printing Friendly. There were fresh and crunchy tacos, tamarind pop and lovely Sass from Ask Alice present. You can totally tell how friendly the Printing Friendly was. It just totally seeps out from every printy pore of these Gemma Jones prints. She’s even got a 3 prints for $50 deal going on for you. That is a pretty ace and not too pricey handmade Christmas gift, no? If you split it three ways you might even be a bit worried that it is too cheap. It is not. You are on a budget and your dollar needs to stretch a long way, right? Right. You could even lash out on a frame, at this price. It is a VERY good idea to read the fine print on this 3 print deal. You might find that you actually get FOUR prints. Thank you Gemma. We choose you. (If you are asking yourself “Are those the prints that were featured in The Sunday Age yesterday?” Yes. They really are!)
The Storybook Rabbit Ceramics
I saw these plates by Storybook Rabbit at Finders Keepers and they went straight to the top of my Christmas list. There was a lovely one with Happiness emblazoned on it. I think that if that was firmly propped against my kitchen wall I would be happy all the time. It was that cheery. Really. The Storybook Rabbit are part of the very ingenious and creative team Made By White. Sometimes I have my head in a rabbit burrow and I miss out on all these clever people making really super great things. Thank heavens I had the burrow removed when I was at Finders Keepers on the weekend. You should keep an eye on the Etsy store of Storybook Rabbit, because a little bunny told me that it will be restocked in the coming weeks with even more cute ceramics ready for Le Season Festive. Bookmark this page so you don’t forget. Or even bookmark this page. That will help too. Storybook Rabbit, we choose you!
Sepulveda Da Rocha Leather Satchel
We spent the weekend at Finders Keepers and my helper/daughter Rin fell in love with this bag. After we’d eyed it off approximately twelve hundred and fifty two times we wandered over to find out how much it was. For some reason my eftpos card ended up in Dominique’s eftpos machine… and the bag was bagged. Miss Rin was thinking that I was the mother from hell, buying her most favourite bag for myself. Of course I gave it straight to her and she DID nearly cry… but not quite. That is how nice this bag is. If you would like to buy someone you love a bag like this and make them nearly cry, maybe send Dominique a message so she can get set for Christmas. Lots more of her lovely bags here, in case you are not satchelly. But we are here at Mike’s. We are totally satchelly. (Do you know who else has an adorable grown-up daughter? This gal. Yes. Her daughter is extremely pretty and very stylish and vintage-tangerine-y. Yes.) We choose you, Sepulveda! We do!
I hope you like Choose-Day.
xx Pip
