I am a blankaholic. I can’t help myself. I only like crocheting blankets. To me, they are substantial and comforting and useful and right. It’s okay if you don’t feel the same. I totally support your right to love crocheting other things (if you do crochet), but for me it’s all about the blanket. That’s just the kind of crafty gal that I am.
SO. After I finished Zoe’s blanket I had TWO projects in mind. This one and another. So I am going to make both. Somehow. And use them as my cool weather busy work. Not that I really need busy work, but there is something really good about watching something grow from nothing, something that makes me feel accomplished at the end of the day. It’s a bit like when you bake a loaf of bread from scratch and watch it grow and grow and transform into something altogether different but a tiny bit the same. That’s what blanket making is like for me.
So I have started this one. And I am finding it super fun and a really easy not-always-looking-at-your work project. I am into the pastel meets pop meets white palette. It feel like it is modern and fresh and cute. Nice.
In other BIG news Max turned 18 yesterday. I spent a lot of time doing birthday things in the lead up and then we had lots of nice hangouts yesterday too. It was pretty great to have all the kids together. LOOK AT THEM. When I saw this photo I started crying because I am so proud! They are good people. They make me happy. Yep.

We had Japanese for lunch and I made gnocchi and salad for dinner and then we had this bonkers cake, which is a bit of a tradition in our house. We are so fancy, no?!
I was a bit sick and now I am a bit more sick. Ari is sick today too. I am hoping I will get better really quickly in time for Big Hearted Business on the weekend. Are you going? I am going. I am SPEAKING with a whole bunch of other people including Missy Higgins, Danielle La Porte, Beci Orpin, Jo Walker and Joost Bakker. Wish me get well vibes!!!
I bought this dress to wear to BHB. And I’m going to wear it to a party I am going to tomorrow, too. I like to wear things lots of times. I am not the new dress for every event type!
I have a couple of really fun projects on the way, working with other people. I will tell you more tomorrow. Stay tuned for that?! Exciting!
How are you? Are you feeling well or a bit sniffly and cough-y like me?
Write soon.
x Pip
PS: Don’t forget to join The Walking Book Club. It’s really fun. The book is really great!
