Or, giving nice things to cute people. Either way. It’s all good.
As I mentioned last week in this post, my friend Miss G got hitched last Saturday. And it was ace. Really ace. I managed to keep my crying to ‘moderately dignified’, which was refreshing and surprising to all concerned.
But I had a conundrum before the wedding. Due to Miss G and her soon to be husband’s very exciting lives, they were only going to be in town for a day before the wedding and jetting off overseas the following week. Her mum hosted a lovely casual lunch on the day of the wedding (lunch: 12.30pm, nuptials: 5.30pm) for the ladies closest to the bride, but there was no time for any girls night out antics, or other traditional pre-wedding festivities.
How could I celebrate the big day and do something cute and special, without embarrassing my friend (who is quite low key and prefers to avoid big showy displays)?
I settled for giving the guests at the pre-wedding lunch a little something. Just to mark the occasion, and to ‘do something’ for my lovely friend, who had asked for no gifts at the wedding itself. Sneaky…
So I visited Pip and Cam at the shop and picked up one printed hanky (‘Teary Deary?’) and one fabric badge for each guest.
Then I did some creative wrapping, recycling the poster from an old issue of Frankie to make a cone for each hankie and badge to nestle into. Cotton string kept the whole thing from falling apart. Crafty!
And this is what it looked like.
