You will need :
- Chain stitch 17
- Skip the first two stitches and then half treble one stitch into each remaining chain stitch
- At the end of the row chain up 2
- Then Half Treble once into each chain stitch of previous row.
- Continue on like this chaining up two and half-trebling along until you have 8 rows of stitches.
- Fasten off and fold your crocheted rectangle in half. Good work! Sew up the top and side seams with a big needle and matching yarn.
- Turn right way out and add his extra features: Use yarn to stitch eyes and other features – or you could use felt or buttons or embroidery floss. (You can also to this in the centre of your crocheted rectangle, checking the placement is correct, before you stitch him up!)
- Make a scarf by chain stitching 25 stitches and fastening off. Trim the ends. Tie the little scarf tightly around Snowman’s neck to create his cute shape.Pop him on your finger! Sing him a Christmas song!
- Play around with different sizes and variations! Add a nose, mouth or hat if you like!
3. Here is how to do UK HalfTreble (the stitch I used here)
If you would like to contribute a couple of dollars to the Mike’s Tutorial Fund then you can click the button below and Pay As You Feel. Whatever you think is a fair thing. No amount is too small. If you don’t want to, that is okay too! The fund will help me to justify setting aside some more time to write and publish lots more tutorials in the future. If that’s the kinda thing you guys are into. Of course there will ALWAYS be free tutorials here. No matter what. Donations or not. AND you should only throw us a few dollars if you can afford it. If you can’t we totally understand and we invite you to use the tutorial anyway. Because you are ace. (I hope the button is installed properly!)
