My first ever book illustrated by Marcel Marlier – perhaps you had this book too?! I loved everything about Debbie – her gorgeous ballet outfits, her miniature cat, her long eyelashes – I remember long hours spend in my room trying to emulate her graceful poses. I think my ballet style was more.. um… ostrich meets baby elephant.. but it FELT graceful at the time.

ps – be sure to grab todays Melbourne Herald Sun to see our gal Jhoanna in the HOME magazine.

Wow yes.. i too was ballet inspired by Debbie. Thanks for the flash back xx
Hi,My girlfriend had this book and I remember being sooooo jealous!I just bought 17!marine books on a dutch ebay site for 2 euro’s a piece!!!and the ballet book was one of them!!I can not wait for them to arrive! It started with you dear meet me at mikes,it brought back so many memories I started looking for them on the internet and found a lady who sold her entire collection. How can anyone part with these I wonder!Have a fun day today and I can’t wait to see your favourite cup!!hugs Dees
My ballet book was a little different looks like same era and I loved it, I’m going to try to find it and scan it too! I know I still have it somewhere complete with grotty and brittle sticky tape holding it together. Mine was about a girl who had polio? and who used ballet to get better!
Seems to have been a very popular book for us gals when we were young. That was the one i had. I must start to make a collection of all the ones I see here in Noumea.
Oh my goodness, I had that book too! Those photos have brought back so many memories, I am so surprised. I just bought a copy on eBay. Can’t wait to see it!
I had that book, it was one of my absolute favourites. Where did you get it?
Oh my, I used to have that Debbie book when I was little!! Except that mine was the Indonesian translation and her name was Tini. But still… looking at those pictures brings back memories! And yes, I tried the poses too! (Very ungracefully.)
Bah, we don’t get the Home section here in ‘the country’, can you believe that? How ridiculous! Daylesford is barely any further from central Melbourne than Ringwood! If the Age can manage to get its supplements here, why can’t the Herald-Sun? Ok, off my sopabox now, I love the Marlier books, they always stun me with their gorgeous illustrations!
