Mikes is 2 and a half and showing no signs of tantrums at this point. We have changed sooooo much about the store since its conception! And it’s probably halfway there, in terms of my ideal vision. But then that changes all the time anyway.. so in 10 years time.. you’ll still find me saying.. ‘Yeah.. we’re about halfway to the ultimate Mikes’. I’m super proud of our happy, crafty, nostalgic shop.

Messy
I am a bit messy – i try so hard not to be.. but I love to be surrounded by my stuff… as it keeps me inspired and excited about life. I clean up all the time.. but things are still pretty messy, generally. It’s really nice mess – not yicky mess – the mess on my desk at the moment, for instance, includes – a broken robot, a thankyou note, a Holly Hobbie tote made by someone sweet, a garland from India from a lovely girl, a vase full of pencils (X 3), an empty wine glass (hic!), a box of things to put on the new website, the Golden Book Dictionary, a hole punch, a necklace and a jewellery box. See.. all nice mess.. just piled on top of each other. The thing is – I know where all my stuff is. So it’s organised chaos… do you believe me?

I’ve made so many friends through the store and through the blogging world.. and now I’m on Facebook.. ya betta watch out! I love the blogging community.. and just between you and me.. my boy is not much of a talker in the evenings.. so what I would do without all you girls to vent to – I just don’t know! I love to see what you are all up to.. (and am usually in awe of anyone that takes beautiful photos for their blog.. because I do not! My photos are crappy.. but I swear it’s on my list of things to get better at!)
Mail
Never enough mail – packages, letters, postcards.. I just don’t care what it is.. except bills.. i don’t like them much. I get lots of great mail.. and I feel really lucky.. and at this very moment I am waiting for no less then 8 packages.. so hopefully today is the day. Sometimes my packages are addressed to Meet Me at Mikes.. and Cam tries to open them. This is bad. I get really stroppy if anyone opens my packages. It’s my very special treat.
Magazines
I am an addict – and do not even think about flicking through my new magazine before I have read it – or i will chop your hands off. Sorry.. I can’t help it.. is that weird? I am a bit possessive I feel.. but I don’t mind. I can wear it..

i’m with you regarding magazine pre-reading and package-opening. it must be me and me alone to first lay hands and eyes on any goodies arriving by post. mail, too. there’s just not enough good mail in this techy world anymore. and i love your photos… haven’t seen a bad one yet!
Pip, I’m so with you on the magazine front, don’t ever try to read one of my mags before I do! My guy Paul thinks it’s weird and refuses to co-operate. When we were first dating we used to flatshare together with a boy called Paul Smith (not the designer) who used to have a newspaper delivered every day and he really hated anyone to read it before him. My Paul thought that was weird too, and would try and read a few pages first just to irritate him, but I secretly understood!
Wow, mikes is 2.5 years old! geez where have I been during that time.
