Hello

The Mayor Of Annoying Town

May 3, 2009

this is not my hairy hand

Hello.

You know… I love writing this blog. I do. I do. I love to sit down each day and get my thoughts out and share stuff and see what you all are doing. I do. In the last few weeks, my internet has been totally playing up and it’s driving me bonkers. The fourth Telstra tech is meant to be coming this morning – so perhaps he can weave some magic and get it to work all the time?

Yesterday the internet was working so so so super great – I thought it was a-ok. Today it’s dodgy again – pages timing out and slower then slow speeds. And now it’s working a bit again. Tomorrow… who knows? Sigh. It’s the City Hall of Annoying Town here, did you know that? I am the mayor. Here is my special hat and badge. M.A.Y.O.R. is what it says on the badge. A.R.G.H. is emblazoned on the hat. Yikes, peeps. I fear the torture of sporadic internet for 6 weeks is wearing me down. I am officially a nutbag. Come crack me into unsatisfying little nut crumbs with your special Christmas Nutcracker. I dare you.

Anyway, I just wanted to let y’all know that I am missing writing my blog in the usual way. And I am really missing having the freedom to click around and visit other blogs. And I’m super dooper missing writing what I want, when I want. A lot of missing there, huh, perhaps too much… someone smack me in the back of the head and make me buck up.

Isn’t it funny how you start to feel like the world is passing you by, when things like this happen? I’m not taking many photos, because I can’t upload them. I’m not able to send many emails, so I’m feeling a bit out of touch and am trying not to fall behind on lots of fronts. If I don’t write my blog, I can’t just get stuff of my chest in the usual way. Funny, huh? Get a grip, Pip. Of course I really CAN do all these things, but the thing is I’m now WAY too busy being a Pouty Princess in the corner, spending my energy on anti-Telstra chants and trying to click my mouse buttons super hard in case it helps. Such a drip.

I’m sending you this message in a bottle. Hoping it reaches you and isn’t too soggy. Write soon. I’ll be here making granny squares and feeling sorry for me.

xx Pip (Pip Who?)

Telstra – I shake my fist at you. See that?

We went with Optus for a reason! DH’s father had both Optus and Telstra Bigpong cables and the Optus one went out rarely but the Bigpong? Oh dear…
Hope they sort the problem out this time!

Granny squaring is a great way to spend the time. Looking forward to seeing your masterpiece when all this hoo ha gets sorted.

i know just how you feel!! its sooo frustrating – every now and again mine decides it will not let me have the internet – my son said its something to do with the router – well being a technophobe that means nothing to me!!!
    hope you get sorted soon!

B L O O D Y Telstra is all I can say!! I have been having similar problems all year, and every technician I speak to diagnoses a different problem and when I am talking to them they bring the worst out in me. So, I just pretend that my Internet works 24/7 @ 100%, but sadly it does not!

I miss your frequent postings too!

Only you, Pip, (Pip who), could whinge so eloquently.

Hope the www Blues get better soon…

i hear ya. my stupid internet connection is ALWAYS patchy. curses! and i know what you mean… it does interrupt the flow of your week, and you do feel cut off somewhat.

  • Bird Bath May 4, 2009 at 6:10 AM

oh dear, you do sound quite sad….but you know this will pass and you will be clickety clicking and tippity typing soon enough.
‘Til then hope you find some solace the old fashioned way – with your wooly granny squares and cups of tea.

Funnily enough I think what you are experiencing is a Monday thing. Monday is generally a hard day to get into gear. Wednesday through to Saturday are the most productive days of the week. I think this too is helped by Kootooyoo’s creative space meme updates. It kickstarts me. Sometimes though you just gotta have a down day to appreciate a normal day. My advice: have a cup of hot tea and a cupcake to go with it. ;P

  • Moonspinner May 4, 2009 at 3:35 AM

I totally know what you mean, I’m just a newbie to all this, but gee it gets to be a part of your life. Wow! It is like a whole new world! Hang in there …

  • CurlyPops May 4, 2009 at 3:26 AM

Ack! I know exactly what you mean… I’ve only had the option of Telstra wireless since I moved and it’s C.R.A.P!

  • Flickettysplits May 4, 2009 at 1:49 AM

I’m absolutely with you on this. I’ve just managed to reinstall my camera software and can FINALLY update my blog and etsy shop – but I feel like a chunk of my life is missing now, because I wasn’t able to document it! It just goes to show: let nothing dam the creative juices, in case they dry up altogether …

I cannot stand slow internet, and mine as been (not as bad) bad too lately, always dropping out, but I don’t know if that is because im connecting to my modem wirelessly.

Anyway, gosh I hope it sorts itself out soon because I can totally relate with the whole feeling like the world is passing you by thing.

I feel like that if I miss a day twittering.. that is bad isn’t it?

Apart from the fact that this post isn’t reflective of super good things, I did enjoy reading it all the same… if that makes sense.

Oh Pip , I have annoying stupid internet problems regularly, so I understand. I also understand about that out of touch feeling, I get that too, when I was sick, and when I’m too busy to be on computer. xx

  • midge May 4, 2009 at 12:02 AM

I sympathise Pip, I really do know your pain. I too regularly endure such a frustrating relationship with technology. Make yourself a lovely cuppa, crochet yourself into a Zen like state and see this as a chance to regroup and revitalise, it will be over soon.
