Hello

Have You Seen Our Book?!

April 9, 2009

You can buy it at all good bookstores – or online here and here! (Both shipping worldwide!)

The book is chock full of beautiful photos, projects and how-tos on all the basic things like sewing, knitting, crochet and embroidery. The projects range from simple screen printing, to making a mobile from paper ephemera, to clothing for crafty girls and babies, to making cute soft toys. There are things for the playroom, kitchen, living room and bedroom too! There are great gifty things to make for your Mum or your best friend (could be handy with Mother’s Day looming?!)

Most projects are for beginners – but there are a couple of trickier things to keep the clever crafters happy too – and even if you’ve never made things before, this book will show you how. Instructions are fun and friendly – and all terms and techniques are shown clearly – assuming you are a complete beginner, so don’t be scared!

Maybe it’s time you made your Nanna proud and got into a bit of Contemporary Craft?! (Because it’s really just a new-fangled version of her old-fashioned techniques!) Have fun making stuff!

xx Pip

(As you can see – we’ve been visiting our books to make sure they are okay. This shot is from Borders – some shots from Readings are over here. Thanks Angela for the photos!)

PS – Thanks to lovely Hello Sandwich for a lovely review!

    hi pip

was so very excited to hear about your book and see it published! am such a fan of the craftyness inside 🙂

as i live in WA, thought i’d order it online from readings…but decided i’d call my local bookshop, boffins (a bit like readings, but smaller). the girl on the phone told me they were on order, but i could have the last one! when i went to pick it up, she had read the whole thing and had ordered some more…we mused for ages over its loveliness. love your work (especially the totally cute notebook cover),

Afraid I have only seen it online, it looks really lovely but I am in the UK and it costs a zillion pounds to get it here (not really but may as well be as my pocket money is just zilch at the mo’ :0). Will be seeing it though when the money is flowing a bit better in our household. Well done you on a fab book.

Pip you’re a star! Congratulations for bringing the world of handmade out of Nana’s sewing basket and into the hearts of a new wave of crafter.

Your interview’s with Richard Aedy and Richard Fidler on the ABC made my own slice of handmade heaven so much more inspiring – thanks xox

I have it on good authority that I WILL be receiving it for my birthday in exactly 6 more sleeps! I was gabbing on about it in a button shop (in Newtown, Sydney) yesterday and they offered to show it to me but I resisted! I want to delay gratification!

    Hi Pip,
I spent some of K-Rudd’s money yesterday buying your book. It is just so lovely and full of gorgeous projects. You are such an inspiring woman! I am going to cut the article out of the age the other day and stick it in the pattern pocket!
I hope you are having a lovely Easter!

My copy arrived in the mail from Readings earlier this week. I love the spiral binding and the pattern pocket and the photos throughout are gorgeous. I especially love Morris (just need to learn to crochet), Softie wheat bag, Moopy notebook cover, Udderley Lovely (what a great name!) and the backgammon board. My absolute fave is Zing – love him to bits and know heaps of kitty lovers who will love him too!!! This book is such a treasure, chocka block full of Aussie crafting divas. Thanks for creating such a bonza book Pip – give yourself a ginormous pat on the back! 🙂

I got my hot little hands all over a copy at A&R, Fountain Gate last night! It is wonderful. Just gotta save up! Tried to talk hubby into buying it for me with HIS birthday voucher. Sadly he'd have no part in it!
