Hello

Blowing My Own Trumpet…

March 25, 2009

Big things are happening in my neck of the woods. It’s all a bit much and I’m sipping a very strong drink a ce moment to settle my nerves.

1. Cover of The Age M Magazine on Sunday – an article about how great craft is!
2. I turned 40 on Friday!
3. A pile of our book spotted today about to go out on the shelves at a city bookstore!

Hope your week is going just great!

xx Pip

Congrats Pip! It took me until the day of my 41st birthday to become a covergirl, too! Congrats and happy birthday. Love your blog.

  • mayaluna March 29, 2009 at 2:44 AM

I’m so happy for you, Pip! You’ve given so much for so long… so happy that you are getting some very well deserved recognition! You look stunning… total superstar! What a marvelous week to turn 40!! Happiness to you during this incredible moment. I’m glad you’re not letting the little black clouds rain on your lovely parade… your response to Anon: perfection! I’m sending you super big hugs across the oceans and miles!
    p.s I’m a ’69 gal, too! I’ll be joining you in July!

    Hey Pip

You made me smile with delight to see your lovely face on Sunday – being a craft covergirl agrees with you πŸ™‚

  • Steph Bond March 27, 2009 at 3:12 AM

STUNNING cover shot Pip! Really such an achievement – I hope everyone knows just how difficult it is to pull a book together, develop a profile, reach out to the right people, believe in yourself, and have the persistence and guts to make it happen.
    Congratulations!

  • Drewzel March 26, 2009 at 10:38 PM

Yeah Pip! Go the Ralph cover! Sexy crafting! Whoohoo! πŸ˜›
Everyone knows you’ve worked really hard, and it’s great to see it coming to fruition. Hurrah!

  • potty mouth mama March 26, 2009 at 10:30 PM

Anonymous – so funny, overexposure you say? On all fronts, there’s no overexposure here – knickers on – check, no stray nipples – check.

Go Pip – you deserve every success that comes your way.

Can’t wait til my Readings mail arrives. So. Darn. Excited. xxx

  • Sara March 26, 2009 at 10:03 PM

Ah Pip. There are always going to be haters, jealous nasty people out there, that are so filled with bile that it spills out and splashes onto good innocent people. Sorry you got caught in the crossfire there. But hey, don’t let that nasty comment get you down, not for one second. I’m not great at maths, but I’d say 1 out of 36 aint so bad!
Hold your head high, you’re an inspiration to us all. Thank you!

  • h&b March 26, 2009 at 10:00 PM

Congrats on your trifecta – although I must say, the cover of Ralph is really something special.

There’s no such thing as “overexposure” in a little country like Australia anyway – just ask any actor. You take it where you get it and you run it through its course.

Hopefully ‘anon’ will catch a happy break soon .. although .. it’s all to do with a positive attitude .. isn’t it ?

    xx

  • meet me at mikes March 26, 2009 at 9:42 PM

Dear Anonymous (such an unusual name!)

Thank you for your helpful comment.
Perhaps dragging craft into the mainstream via a beautiful book which promotes the work of 25 other Australian crafters and encourages people to be creative doesn’t seem like a good idea to you?

And perhaps trying to get as many people as possible to buy said book and start making things and creating awareness about the beautiful work of the crafters profiled isn’t a good idea either.

In fact – don’t tell anyone about this book. We want to be sure to clip wings of those we see as successful, don’t we? We wouldn’t want people getting a leg up now, would we? Especially after years and years of toiling away. No. That sounds like a bad idea.

Stay tuned for my Ralph cover, too.

    xx pip

  • Kirsty March 26, 2009 at 9:16 PM

  • Anonymous March 26, 2009 at 11:48 AM

    “Over Exposure”? Just a thought.
