:: What I Found At The Ballarat Salvation Army…

July 9, 2012

An Arabia Finel mushroom bowl! For $4.99!  Oh.  My.  GOSH.  This was designed by Kaj Franck and Esteri Tomula in the 1960s.  I am in love with it and it got a couple of hundred likes on Instagram too!

Do you love it?  Say YES!

xx Pip

Yes! Love it! I have a small Arabia sugar pot and I loved it so much (cost me 50c at a church fete) that it took me about a month for me to let my kids touch it!

I've always loved that bowl. I can't believe you got it for NOTHING. You are sooo fortunate.

I have one just like this, too! It was a wedding gift from my former boss and roommate in December 1968. I use it occasionally for salads, but just mostly enjoy it . Even back then, I am sure it was much more expensive! How could anyone give up a beauty like this?

  • Emma July 10, 2012 at 9:44 AM

My Mum has this bowl and a few other Arabia things – thank goodness she's a hoarder or she might have given away all the '70s loveliness! She's given me a cute Arabia egg cup with a blue egg pattern – gorgeous.

I cannot believe you found that at a Salvos for $4.99. Best find EVER!

Fantastic! My friend's mother has one, and I have been in love with it since the first time I saw it. They do make some really nice things, those Finns!

Gotta love any Arabia but this design is lovely! You must of had the Salvo's on a bad day, they are usually more savvy to us thrifters! Lucky you ๐Ÿ˜‰

NOOOOOOO!!!! I can't believe you found it in the Salvation Army! for $4.99!!! Amazing. I have one the same, I saw one at a friend's parents house and fell in love with it so hard I had to have one, my Mum got it from Ebay for a Christmas present a couple of years ago – for a lot more than $4.99!!! Well done you, it is one of those beautiful pieces that brings me joy every day, I'm sure it will for you too. ๐Ÿ™‚ Rachel
