Hello Photography + Art + Design

:: Rad Rugs Part One!

June 28, 2012
I’m a bit obsessed with rugs. They are kind of like works of art you can wriggle your toes on, right?
I’ve been spending a bit of time looking at rugs on eBay, because I love the patterns and I love the colours and I love the textured whimsy of them too.
I like the uniqueness of vintage rugs, but they are pretty hard to come by here. Hence I’m looking at the UK and US sites, for textile inspiration.
How about you? Are you into rugs? Do you have rugs at your place?
I have a really nice one from IKEA (the big dark blue floral one!) and a collection of ‘Persian’ type rugs found on the side of the road.
I like a rug. It’s like the icing on the cake, right? Except you can’t lick it. That would be weird.
xx Pip

Great collection of rugs! I've decided my next big project is going to be a really colourful rag rug hooked onto hessian and have been collecting some images on pinterest. I'm adding your top one to my inspo!

I love rugs too! I've really been wanting a shaggy rug for a long long time. They are so comfortable and will fit in with any furniture. I hope to get it soon!

I'm just about finished making an american braided rug out of old blankets its so rustic and cosy looking and is going over the cold patch in the bedroom floor where we cant get insulation in. I cant believe i made it with my Own hands! Rugs rock!

liking the first one……used to make latch hook rugs in the 70's……so far yet so near.

I started making a latch hook rug using a 19th century cross stitch border motif. It'll look rad when it's finished.. one day..

    love rugs
    love the portability
    and thus the myriad
    possibilities they foster
    so much better than
    fitted carpet
    and you are so right
    to lick 'em
    would be downright wierd
    and a tad fluffy

    Whoa, funny, daggy rugs!

I just finished making a braided rag rug. Do NOT believe people who tell you they're quick and easy. They're lying about at least one of those things.
