Hello Pip-Life

:: 5 Pins & Some Dumpling Chatter Too…

May 16, 2012
hullo!
How are you? I am good! I had some whack virus for a few days there, but I’m TOTES on the mend and that is RAD. I’ve been hanging out on Pinterest a bit lately.  Here are a few of my favourite images from the last few days Pinning.
Today we had DUMPLINGS for lunch. I’m so crazy about dumplings, I can’t even tell you. They are like little morsels of deliciousness, all wrapped up in a teensy bit of soupy, wrappy goodness.  I really like them with that pungent, rusty coloured chilli sauce. And some soy. Yum.  I like to eat them when they are a tiny bit too hot, because I am like that.
There are lots of good dumpling places in Melbourne. Maybe there are lots in your town too? I would love to know more. Tell me about dumplings? Do you like them? Where do you eat them? Do you wait for them to cool down, or do you gulp their happy goodness down a tiny bit too soon (like me!)?  Fried? Steamed? Vegetarian? Not?
Cast your dumpling vote. Tell your dumpling story.
Here is a picture of some dumplings, as a bonus.  Don’t thank me. I’m happy to do this for you.
Image is via Pinterest and from this lovely blog
Tell me about you and dumplings?
xx Pip

!!! Dumplings are my all time favourite food, I make my own vego Tibetan Momos and Japanese Gyoza and am thoroughly addicted.
I'm actually heading to Melbourne for my birthday this year and I'd love some good dumpling shop recommendations!?!

Pan-fried, so crispy on one side and soft on the other. Made at home is my favourite. We all love them in this house. Might have to make some this weekend! 🙂

I love all things dumpling – Steamed, fried, in soup, with a bit of soy and siracha – delish!!

    Yeah, fellow dumpling lovers unite!
I love my dumplings steamed. My favourite are in Taipei, Taiwan. They have soup in them! It's a bit far to go for dumplings from Melbourne, Australia, but I've heard we have those ones here.
Any dumpling lovers know about this?
This can be a sort of dumpling bulletin board!
    Thanks, Pip. xxx

    Hi Pip,

Sydney is Dumpling Town! I live near Ashfield, and they have HEAPS of great dumpling places but I like Shanghai Nights and New Shanghai. Also here is a link to some other ones closer to town that Time Out mag wrote up, for if you ever come to Sydney: http://www.au.timeout.com/sydney/restaurants/features/2396/sydneys-best-dumplings

All this chatter has made me hungry!

I have a confession… I've never had dumplings!!! If someone has a good place in Perth let me know. Maybe it's time…

I am dumpling mad aswell! My favourite dumpling restaurant (although, truth be told, this is the only one I have been too besides food court dumpling places!)is Dumpling Specialist in Box Hill. I'm a vegetarian, so pan fried vegie dumplings are my favourite! I like steamed too, but I'm always trying to have more than my share of the pan-fried, so I should just stick with them. With lots of chili, and the good ol' balsamic/soy combo 🙂 x

I love a good dumping fix and those look delish! I love mine with a mix of ketjap manis and a few drops of sesame oil. And chilli sauce, of course!
