Hello

:: A Year Of Good Things : 40/366

February 9, 2012

And now for TODAY!

Today we got up early. Ari has been ill and had to stay home again, so we worked all that out and then Max made me a coffee (! HOW COOL !) and I started work at 7am (after I had tipped hair dye all over my head, so I don’t look like a skunk at the Wedding!)  Then we packed Max off to school, I finished my morning work and we printed our catering list and headed to the market. (Oops. I did wash the dye out and dry my hair and get dressed somewhere in there!)

We bought tomatoes, zucchinis, potatoes, herbs, cucumbers, mushrooms, bread, oranges, pumpkin, pineapples and chilli!

Next we headed to Mamma Lucia’s cheese shop in Brunswick and we bought fetta, bocconcini and mozzarella.

Then we dropped in to Savers to grab a few extra plates and some fairy lights.

After that we headed to Spotlight and bought 25m of pale blue gingham to use as tablecloths.

Then we headed to Mediterranean Wholesalers to buy olive oil, olives, white wine vinegar, tomato paste, salami, dried oregano, salt and peppercorns.

THEN we came home and had lunch.

Next we went to the Turkish Grocer on Smith Street and got 15 kg of flour for crispy, thin pizza base dough.  And then to the variety store to get tons of containers to store and transport the food in.  PLUS we bought soap, loo paper, brown paper, extra pizza trays, squeezy bottles for herby olive oil and even more bits and pieces.

Phew. The good news is there are only a few things left on my list!  And I am sipping Prosecco and Blood Orange Juice and listening to Sarah Weiner’s show on SBS (Cam and Ari are actually WATCHING IT!)

I am so glad of lists and spreadsheets and Google Calendar.  They have helped us plan this wedding without too much fuss. We’ve even got a few Facebook groups for different wedding elements, so the various helpers can chat to each other! SO Good!!

How about you? DO you like Prosecco? Do you like lists, spreadsheets or calendars?

xx Pip

I loved working with my spreadsheets in the lead up to my wedding! One for table seating, one for RSVPs and dietary requirements, one for what all the family members had to bring on the day, one for the prep schedule, one for the runsheet of the ceremony/reception… Such a pleasure to pore over them and tweak details til the final hour. That said, I wouldn't want to do it again!! 😉

Wow…. I love Prosecco but you sound like you need a whole case of it at the moment!I hope you get time to stop and enjoy all the precious moments.

I am so glad your list had loo paper, I was thinking of reminding you about that, but you have it under control! (Not that I intend to use all of the loo paper!)

Great job – glad you found mamma luccias too! For all your readers a visit to brunswick for Mamma's, Mediterraneano, BAS foods, and A1 or Middle East is definitely worthwhile if you are having an event.
(put brunswick-opolis in google maps for addresses folks)

The blue gingham will be very sweet – nice work. And reusable in so many ways…

I love a good list although i do have a pretty good memory and sometimes write them then don't look at them pretty much the whole time i am out shopping.

Best wishes for the day. I am sure it will sail smoothly and what doesn't will be an adventure.

I love google calender, it goes where-ever the internet goes. Facebook is great for organising events too.

Hope you all have a really beautiful day Pip.
Treat yourself to some big glasses of prosecco afterwards.

It sounds like it's coming very soon! I'm in the same situation, and feel in fact that I lived the same day as you today. I was looking for table numbers and did so all over Geelong, did the groceries at the various supermarkets. Lists are my savior, especially at the moment, I'm getting close to having everything ticked off!

Wow Pip that sounds like A LOT of stuff to do/buy/sot/organise!!! I'm glad to hear you are not a crazy lady after doing it all…

List are the best. I take great joy in crossing things off lists. I hope you have fun crossing things off too ( or making them yellow).

I also hope you take a big break after the wedding & enjoy some time to do as you please. Even though I am sure you have loved doing all the things on the list I think it will be nice for you to do nothing, or make a list of things that would be just for you. Take a breather lady, you deserve it!!

Enjoy the wedding too. It sounds like it will be lovely. xx
