Hello

:: A Year Of Good Things : 37/366

February 6, 2012

I collect these mugs. I know.  I am weird.

I’ve finally got them displayed in a super pleasing peg-boardy way.  If you ever see one of these in an op-shop or at a garage sale I would LOVE you to buy it for me! I will even paypal you the cost and postage! That’s how nuts I am.

This peg board used to be our Mug-zeum in the shop. Now I get to use it for my private collection. I am fancy. I have private mugs!

xx Pip

I have a Rachel one you are welcome to have

This is so funny! I've never seen them here, maybe they are an Australian thing, but I promise you I'll buy one if I see it 🙂

I so love it that the names en masse are such a snapshot of popular names of the time they were made – a time when all the grownups seemed to be called Geoff and Sandra – or just Nanna…! And the typeface is so evocative of the optimistic 80s. Yay!

    Love the display!!
I have a Rachel one you can have- I never actually use it, and seeing it go to a happy home would be my Good Thing for today!

I must say, isn't it refreshing to see normal-type names and that they're spelt correctly? Not a Jaxson or Kaycee in sight! I will keep a look out for you Pip. 🙂

I have a Wendy one! You can't have it though lol! I keep it up high so the kids don't break it, I've had it since I lived at home and my mum bought my sister and I one each.
If I see any others I will get them for you though!

    I adore this
Doesn't look like I can visit yet though

  • Seana February 6, 2012 at 5:00 PM

Do you collect them because as a kid you could never get a Pip one? I know they never had Seana, once somebody got me on in Ireland it was awesome.

What happens if you double up on names?

  • Natalie February 6, 2012 at 4:04 PM

ahhhhh so this is where coke stole the idea from!!!

I love those mugs too! I have a Margaret and a Barry one which I bought together in an opshop. In my head I imagine Margaret and Barry got divorced and neither of them could bear to take their matching mug. Do these kinds of mugs have a name?

  • EmilyKate February 6, 2012 at 3:47 PM

Oh I love your wall! How wonderfully hospitable to be able to give guests a mug with their name on.
