Hello

:: A Year Of Good Things : 6|366

January 6, 2012

Hey! How are you? Are you well?

This morning I arrived at the market, having already planned my Good Thing for the day.  I secured it a weeny few minutes after I arrived. I am totes speedy when it comes to good.
And yet, this Thing is not just good, it’s well edited, relevant and super informative. I’m talking, of course, about The Big Issue.  You may or may not know that The Big Issue magazine provides employment and immediate income to its vendors.  It’s sold fortnightly in Melbourne and Sydney and all funds raised go to support social enterprises and creative solutions for its vendors and the homeless or marginalized.
The issue I bought has a rad guide to making paper planes (which we need to do for Rin’s wedding!) as well as other cool stuff about Elvis impersonators, seaside mooching, eskies and Japanese artist Yayoi Kasuma.  Totes great and a snip at $5.

Do you Big Issue, too?  Do you want to join The Year Of Good Things? You can join anytime, for a day or for a year!

My husband usually gets the Scottish edition of the Big Issue from a lovely smiley guy at our local supermarket in Ellon, Aberdeenshire. We've not seen him for a while so I'm hoping that he has moved on to better things or that we have just been there at the wrong time as we've been on holiday & out of our regular routine.
    PS.
How nice of you to say I look nice even though I'm sat here with my painting clothes on & my hair unbrushed!

PPS. Happy Year Pip, I discovered you early last year & I love always having something cheerful & crafty to open in my in-box.

    Yay! I love this post.

I'm probably bias because I work for The Big Issue, but it's such a great way to do something small that makes a big difference to someone's life.

Jennie – The Big Issue is in Brisbane (and Ipswich!). Our new website will be up in a few weeks and it has a little 'find a vendor' map on it to make it a lot easier to find a vendor and buy the mag.

Enjoy the paper plane fun, Pip. We were having competitions in our office yesterday! (Don't tell the boss!)

Wonderful! They sell it in Perth too, but I only ever see the vendors at the train station in the city. They used to be outside all of the Body Shops if my memory serves me.

Pip, I am loving this Year of Good Things! So hard to stop at one! And it is so uplifting! Yay! You have such Good Ideas 🙂

I did NOT know that The Big Issue was sold here! Brilliant! They just need to sell it in Brisbane now!?

Well, lovely Bert, egg good that YOU are… I like a FIRM sprightly onion! And we had some onions recently that were spongey and watery. Ugh. Not good. So we MUST squeeze our onions and make sure they are firm and sprightly, else we may get the seepy kind. Yick! xxxx

Hi Pip, This is way by the by, but I was wondering which you consider to be the Nice onions?

Oh, and by the by the by, you are quite the good egg.
