Hello

:: Camp. Sob!

December 7, 2011

Look. Ari went to camp today. Sob! The weather is going to be lovely and it’s a teensy group, which is ace.  They’re going to stop for ice-creams on the way up.  Nice!

I always feel a bit of a dull heartache when it’s camp time.  I know the kids have the BEST time and it does GREAT things for them… but I get separation anxiety.  When the bus pulls away, tears spring into my eyes and I feel like an elephant has sat on my chest.  Then I go home and listen to the quiet. It’s a different kind of quiet than the ‘gone to school quiet’.  It’s the not coming back for ‘2 whole nights quiet’.  It’s possibly the quietest quiet you can get.

Sob.

xx Pip

    Oh you are not alone – buses leaving are just the saddest – we're happy to have them go, but sad for them to leave

    Oh, I know that feeling! My seven year old had a sleep over at church on saturday. down the road- one night, in an adjoining suburb and I had a private sook. You are right, though, they have a great time and come home with lovely stories to share! x
