Hello

Click! Click! At the Market.

March 7, 2009

We are that crackpot family who heads to the market under the cover of darkness at 6am.
We are that nutcase family who arrives in the dawny twilight, rugged up and grinning at the vans still unpacking their fresh-as-a-daisy loads.
We are the dodo family who sips coffee and hot chocolate and munches on custard danishes and freshly baked borek as the sun comes up.
We are the bed-haired family who giggle when the street lights go out and it’s light enough to see the hot air balloons shooting their firey breath skywards.
We are the loco family who fills up the double decker trolley with bread and cheese and other delights from a big list, anticipating the culinary week ahead.
We are the leg-of-lamb toting, sage-buying, avocado-squeezing Adams Family of the Queen Victoria Market. Minus the Faux French and the Knife-Play (usually).

I once walked home in the wee hours of the morning to see the hot air balloons rising up against the disappearing moon, it was magical! I wish I had someone to drag with me to the markets at that crazy hour!

Before I *bigbreath* quit my job/backpacked/met the love of my life/married/moved to the UK/had a family *phew* I lived above the stationary shop on Lygon St (opposite Toto’s) and I too wandered down to the Vic market every Saturday morning. How I miss it (and the little tubs of sweet walnuts that I haven’t found anywhere else in the world). I’m totally jealous Pip!

yay for markets! We’ve been taking my little guy Felix (13 months) to Adelaide Central Market since he was two weeks old. He loves it! Yum yum!
