Hello

:: Happy Roald Dahl Day!

September 13, 2011

How about a snippet of Roald’s lovely grand-daughter Sophie making Shepherd’s Pie?  I think that is quite celebratory and delicious.  I think her GP would have approved.  I have made this recipe a lot of times with very excellent results.  My friend Jane and my friend Michelle gave me some little Le Creuset lidded ramekins after we finished Sew La Tea Do, so I fill those up with shepherd’s pie and plonk the ‘champ’ on the top (forgoing the lids!)  I did not know what champ was until I met Sophie. Well. I met her on my telly, but that is nearly the same. Sort of.  Anyhoo, she showed me what champ is and I think it is really the very best idea, especially with peas in it.  This recipe is super good for vegetarians too, because there is a lentil option.  I have made the lentilly one, but we prefer the meaty one here.

In other news ::

Ari is sick with Slap Cheek virus.  And no I did not slap his cheek.  I never would.  I love him too much and at best I would slap his wrist… with a Wizz Fizz.  That’s about as far as I go in the slapping department.
Max is home today too.
Cam is working in the shop.
I am trying to keep everyone happy and fed and do some work.
I have wet hair bundled up into a towel because I am too lazy to dry it.
It is windy.
I have ten copies of my book sitting on a shelf in my bedroom.
I made gnocchi for lunch.

What’s your news?  Do you ever slap people?  Do you like Sophie?  Do you know what champ is?

xx Pip

    Poor Ari! I do hope he gets better soon. And my hair is permanently either in a state of un-wash or bundled up in a towel because I am too lazy to dry it. My hair is very much neglected.

    Never heard of Champ, but I know what it is now. TFS. Sophie is cool, but I'm frustrated because I can't get a hold of a copy of James and the Giant Peach. So I'm doing a crash course in speed reading 'cause when I get the book I will have to read fast to catch up to everyone.
