:: Ari’s Book Week Book…

August 24, 2011

Just because we are doing a bit of family show and tell!  Here is the book Ari’s taking to school for Book Week.  Cute-face.  They have a Kitchen Garden Program at Ari’s school and he is LOVING it.  Yesterday they made Gnocchi and also Cauliflower with Caramelised Onion.  Apparently it was delicious!  Aw.  Last week I spied this book in the kitchen at school.  He’s in good hands, methinks!

    Oh snap! I've had that book out from work (I'm a librarian) for about a month solid. So many good recipes!

    We have a kitchen garden program at the school I work at and it is such an important and valuable part of the kids' learning!

    The kitchen garden program has to be one of the best school initiatives in the country. My kids were part of a 'Lap Top' program, so wish they had been out in the garden and then cooking instead. Still I don't regret the laptop program, it was what was available at that school at that time. Times they are a changin'

    This is such a wonderful program. We're lucky that our little school of around 30 kids has the same kitchen garden program. When I used to have the time to volunteer to help (before baby no 3) the meal at the end was comparable to being at a local restaurant. Learning about growing and eating different foods first hand has to be a life long gift for kids.
