Hello

Road Trip Ramble

July 17, 2007

Tuesday is our day off.. and today we took a drive and did a bit of op-shopping… the weather was crazy-rainy.. huge storm clouds, sunshine, beating down like a drumming-workshop showers.. lovely! In the third driving photo you might be able to make out snow-capped peaks in the distance…
In my travels i got a whole lot of cool stuff for myself… see above FIVE pairs of vintage shoes for TEN dollars. And all in my size NINE variety. A late 60s vest and skirt in vivid PURPLE polyester – and a matching (slightly marked) Lavender shirt with a nice pussy’s bow ($9 for 3 pieces), a Black 50s coat with fur trim ($15), a black 50s shift dress with lace top and satin ribbon detail ($3), a handmade red gingham dress ($1.50), a bag of over 50 vintage 60s and 70s patterns that was headed for the recycling bin ($3), lots of vintage 60s and 70s children’s books ($4 in total), Women’s Weekly recipe cards ($3). Sigh. An embarrassment of thrifty riches. I feel like such a glutton.

We are having Cam’s vegie soup for dinner.. I am dying my hair chocolate brown.. my little lovely bunnies are feasting on Tuesday night ‘Simpsons’ and all is pretty good really!
Our worlds best antique store lady furnished us with the following things for Mikes…. Big box of vintage 1970s buttons, various random pieces of printed cotton and seersucker, tortoise-shell knitting needles & hand-tooled leather bags. Life is nice for Mike.

And Allison.. did it snow?

And Erin.. did you get on Rockwiz?
And Angela.. yes we’ll squeeze your lovely friend into Stitching Night!
And Mandy.. did you see your gorgeous embroidered illustration on Flickr?
And Jennie.. I wish you were here!
And Emma-Emerge… Thanks for waking me up with lovely pics and Leo-ness!
And Jessica – thanks for pencilling us in!
And Souraya and Rin – thanks for doing a great job at Mikes without us!
And Molly-ool-a-bar.. thanks for being peaky and beaky too!

xx mikes

Find Mikes in the latest ‘Oyster’ & ‘Shop Til U Drop’.. go on.. see if you can! Go on! Just look at the newsagent.. he won’t mind.. unless he has the sign that says ‘This is not a Library’

Yes, it snowed, there is photo evidence on my blog! The Wombats class at the childcare centre made a snowman with a carrot nose, and we all got wet and snowy! But today is sunny!

You are the op shop queen.
