We went to see The Bamboos last night at a free event in the Fitzroy Gardens. After a ridiculously hot day (which saw the rubber thumb rest on my camera MELT!), it was such a relief to go and sit amongst the trees and lots of other nice people and sip cool drinks and eat cheese and listen to fun music. There were possums to be spotted and bats to be marvelled at and lots of girls in pretty frocks and boys with nice hairdos! There were older people and little kids and people in wheelchairs and tiny babies – the whole gamut of goodness!
The down-side was that we appeared to be sitting on some sort of seeping sprinkler valve – and our picnic blanket was absolutely SOAKED (as were our bottoms). The up-side was that after such an awful day, everyone was cutting loose and dancing about the place. It was totally the best fun I’ve had in a long time!
Everyone was smiling and bouncing about and giggling with relief. Such a nice night! Sigh. You should check out The Bamboos, I think. Buy their music. You will be glad you did.
xx Pip

Oh what fun! We love free concerts on hot nights… this was a good reminder of what’s to come as I huddle by my woodstove and dream of summer dancing. So glad you enjoyed yourself!
