Hmmm it’s really the dead of Winter here in Melbourne.. and we are all loving the rain.. but missing lots of other things…. I wish it were time for warm skin and icy drinks and blueberries and abundent flowers and tomatoes that don’t cost $70 a kilo.. sigh!
But enough of that.. lots of excitement at Mikes – with whispers of a new store… and new projects… and new Gocco printer globes en route from Japan so we can print lots of lovely new cards! Yippee!
Speaking of Gocco love – Aunty Cookie dropped in some fabric today… it is her lovely knitting print.. Pei Pei’s scarves have nearly all sold.. with only one remaining… the chill is working for you Ms Kwoozy!
Tonight is a night for soup and bread and a bit of wine and sewing too… When I was growing up, soup meant a tin of Heinz Big Red Tomato mixed with a tin of Heinz Minestrone! And how we loved it with loads of slices of unbuttered white bread! However, at our house tonight, it will be homemade tomato and bean and spinach soup – found in an old issue of the BBC’s Good Food Magazine.. it’s really a good mag if you ever see it.. a bit like Delicious. It had a really interesting recipe for apple scones in it.. which I might have a crack at tomorrow!
Also.. just wanted to thank those of you that have sent me lovely emails recently – letting me know that you are enjoying the blog… It is so nice to get those kind words! Thanks thanks thanks!
On the crafty front – four fresh Japanese magazines have arrived this week for me to pore over – one really cute one about embroidering kids illustrations! So cute.
Jenny Chalk – your apron is on the way this week!
We packed up a whole lot of old music into mixed craft packs today… we’ve called them ‘Notes & Tunes’.. and they are really lovely yellowing, slightly mangled about the edges and covered in pencil notations! Perfect for making cards or collage or perhaps.. just playing from!
The next two stitching nights are fully booked! Yay! Looking forward to having lots of fun and posting lots of pictures of the stitching success!
OK.. I think that’s a fairly good update! Sorry I missed yesterday.. my mouse broke.. but i got a nice new cordless one from Officeworks today – so i’m back on track for posting madness!
xx mikes
happy Friday!

it’s really cold this year!
whee! that’s great about the scarves. was going to drop a few more off this evening.
And my contribution to recent cool blog (illustrators) – her crochet car is cute and her art with oriental fan : http://catascraft.blogspot.com/
Winter, what’s that?? We still have 30C days up here in the Tropical Territory, our children are out in tank tops & bikini bottoms on their roller blades, it’s quite a sight!! Not to mention fans on high in the bedrooms most evenings to get them to sleep. I’ll take this all back when we move from Sunny Darwin to Snowy Canberra next year. Did I mention we don’t have water restrictions & our children are still playing under the sprinklers & swimming?? Non?? Love Posie
I am loving winter! I haven’t been out of the house for days! Oh and BBC Good Food, we cook from it all the time, the recipes are so great and always work, which is important for someone like me who is much better with a sewing machine than a frying pan!! Looking forward to catching up next week, I will leave the house for that!
