Book Review : At Home With Friends

On Saturday, Max and Ari and I were on a rare visit to the Salvation Army – especially looking for DEAN’S FAIRY TALE BOOKS. No luck with the Deans.. but we DID find this ace book! And right on the tail of A Week of Picnic! Imagine it!

‘At Home With Friends’ was published in 2002 by our second favourite publisher, Chronicle (of course running a close second, after our very own publisher – Hardie Grant). It’s full of the most beautiful photos and REALLY good recipes for simple food cooked beautifully. It’s written by two former Martha Stewart Living editors – and is infused with those excellent Martha-esque production values we all know and love.

Roasted garlic, sangria, mezze, cherry lemonade, cafe au lait, french toast brioche, gorgeous double-decker sandwiches, tangerine mimosas, pistachio ice-cream, black-bean chilli, lemon bundt cake, rocket and jalapeno mayonnaise, thrown together party plates that look super good…

PS – I made a lemon tart today. We shared it with the Brunswick Street neighbours. It was yum.. but i didn’t make QUITE enough filling for it. Oh well.
