Writey-oh! A new eCourse for online creatives by Pip

November 22, 2019

You may know that I launched this blog back in 2006 and it’s been humming along very nicely since then. While the blog has remained much the same, the online world has shifted dramatically. To put it mildly.

A few years ago lots of creatives jumped from blog to social media, delighted by the ease of use and the ability to connect.

Enter … algorithms. PLOT TWIST!

Suddenly great content was not enough to ensure creative types could connect to the people that most wanted to see their words and work. People began to write stuff that would help them be seen. It all got pretty extra.

It’s fair to say that Facebook and Instagram tripped many people up. They tweaked their platforms again and again to as much money as possible and making everyone pay to be seen … and intervene in political outcomes. * insert evil laugh *

People got disheartened and things got a bit weird online – and off – to be honest.

And so … why not swing back to the humble blog, which provides an opportunity to share ideas, images and writing … and to encourage readers to subscribe via email … and bypass all that Zuckerberg algorithm nonsense”

Say hello to Writey-oh!

This coming February, I’m running an all new online blogging e-course with all this in mind called … Writey-oh!

There are spots available for just 25 students.

Lessons are based on this new online landscape with instruction on how to get the most out of your blog both personally, creatively and community-wise.

The idea is to nurture your own little corner of the internet that does what blogging was originally meant for – encouraging expression and creativity, and connecting to other like-minded souls.  And to create a sort of legacy that you feel proud of.

And while social media is part of that equation, this eCourse will also focus on writing a blog that shares posts via email and creating smaller but more engaged communities (with a little bit of help from your favoured existing social platforms.)

Basically it’s about creating something you are proud of and having fun blogging … and really having a place to express yourself in a less confined way.

Class starts 3 February —more details below.

All Writey-oh! content is brand spanking new, written for clever and creative bloggers with the current online environment in mind.

We’ll look at examples of great blogs, great writing, great images and great editorial frameworks, and then come up with our own ideas for our own blogs.

We’ll also work on building our own gang of readers and fostering a network of creative peers to help support our efforts.

The Writey-oh! Details

If you’re keen to kick start your creative practice and refresh, restart or launch your blog then this eCourse will be a fabulous place to start.

  • Lessons are via a private website – with lifetime access.
  • Technical and creative support is via email.
  • Chat and networking is via a private Instagram account.
  • Guided course time runs for 14 days.
  • Study load is self-paced. At a guess it would be around 4 hours per week – but with the option to access all lessons and Instagram ‘group’ for as long as you like. Some will study for fewer hours. Others for more.
  • What you need – a computer or an iPad with external keyboard.
  • A blog – a free one on WordPress.com is just fine.  (If you need help, ask me!)

How much does Writey-Oh! cost?
It costs $89.

Grab a spot — or one for a friend — here.

I’ll be back very soon with something interesting AND helpful!

Hey Pip, I’m a long time reader, first time commenter. I’m keen on this course (if there are still spaces) as I have a little blog which aspires to be like your blog when it grows up. It is on Blogger though not WordPress. Is that going to work for you from an “asking tech support type questions” perspective?

    Thanks,

    D

I’m excited! I only wrote three blog posts last year so I’m looking forward to reconnecting in more ways than one. Any other previous BWP people signed up? Sandra. Xx

Phew! Thanks for opening a second group Pip – those pesky algorithms hid this fantastic news from me until today! I signed up quick smart, and am so looking forward to it 🙂 🙂

Hey Pip, are you able to give us (me) a heads up if the course is close to being full? I really want to sign up but with Christmas buying at my toes I’m trying to juggle my budget as best I can but also don’t want to miss out!!!

There will be a spot! Never fear! I am running TWO separate groups of 20, because the first group sold out so quickly. There are still spots left (also you can ask to be with whoever you want, and I know you want to be in with the OG BWP gang!) x

oh Pip, I really hope this takes off for you and deviously for me too. I don’t blog but golly I’m a long time reader and lover of blogs. I’ve really missed many of my favourite blogs as they disappeared into Instagram. I have a love/hate relationship with insta, the only platform I’m on. So I’m hoping through this course you’ll introduce me to some new blogs and potential new friends.
    cheers Kate
