Craft For The Soul : Pip Lincolne

Hi gang!

Are you well? I am well. I’ve been doing some early morning crochet/coffee drinking/Brothers & Sisters watching. It’s a good way to start the day, a bit like getting in some ‘day off’ before the work day starts, if that makes any sense!

I wanted to let you know that my next round of eCourses has been released.  You can see them here and you can read some testimonials from my students here.

These courses are one of my very favourite things that I get to do. There is almost nothing I like better than helping people to find their creative community and make the most of their creative talents, bloggy or otherwise. Whether you want to learn to blog, blog better or focus on your creative life and reconnect to the most creative bits of you, I have some smart, useful, practical advice and instruction for you. Yep.

To celebrate eCoursearama(and just to be exciting, basically), I’m giving away an advance copy of ‘Craft For The Soul‘, my new book! Yay!

All you need to do to be in the running to win is tell me why you’d like to win a copy. My favourite answer will win the advance copy. (Craft For The Soul does not hit shops until April 22nd!) I will post to anywhere in the world meaning you will get it WAY before it hits the stores. Cool, right?!

Entries close on Friday 6th March at noon, Melbourne time.
Winner contacted on Monday 9th March.
I will then post the winner their book straight away.

Good luck!  (And don’t forget to check out my eCourses and see if that’s the kind of thing you’re into!)

x Pip

NB: Comments are moderated, so it might take a little while for yours to pop up, but rest assured it will pop up!
PS: You can preorder my book via the links on the top right corner of my blog, if you want to do that!

I love doing creative things as an escape from my 20+ chronic health problems. I’m pretty housebound so doing things with my hands helps my mind to wander …… very soothing for the soul.

My SOUL has been a little sad of late as my friends are all busy with their gorgeous families and it’s been hard to catch up with them to ‘create’ together like we used to. So I’ve recently embarked on a little journey to explore and join some local crafting groups to find some new crafty friends that I can make lovely crafty goodness with (and give to my other lovely friends to show them how much I care about them). What a beautiful world the crafty community is with so much inspiration and gorgeous people. My journey is helping me to explore different sides of myself and my ‘crafty passions’ and identify how I might ‘take things further’ and really LIVE IT. But I know your gorgeous new book would give me an extra little BOOST to really develop and mould my passions further and get the most out of craft to make my soul SMILE once again! Love your stuff Pip – you ARE inspiration.

Because crochet is so hot right now ???? plus I feel there may be more to crafting then granny squares (however satisfying they may be). If I spend as much time making things from your book (and consuming tea and biscuits) as I do relentlessly stalking blankies on your blog then I can’t wait to get my hands on it ??

    • Reply Candace March 4, 2015 at 10:25 PM

Well this is awkward. Those question marks are little pictures on my phone and not meant to be strange questions. Now the whole comment has a higher pitch doesn’t it. Erm consider it artistic flair.

Haha! That happens sometimes! I like it. I am considering the hotness of crochet with a whole new fervour! x

What a great competition Pip! Thanks for the opportunity to win. I would love to win a copy of your book, the more I hear about it the more I know it will be exactly what I will love reading, and crafting from. I have all your books so far, so this will sit nice and snug with them on my shelves if I am lucky enough to win!

Go Pip! Ecourses sound super too -am saving up!!

I would love a copy of this book. You pattern for the the fox bed quilt inspired me to learn how to quilt! I did a course and made a quilt (I was the youngest in the class by at least 30 years) I made a couple of quilts for family and I finally made the fox quilt as a gift for a best friend that finished her PHD. I was so proud to be able to give it to her. Something that came from my heart. It was so great to see it completed. I would love to be inspired with another project xx

I would love to win this because the more I read your blog the more I realise just how similar we are in the things we like. I am an artist and have a fine line between my art and craft but mostly I need to learn how to craft better. I want to pass this on to my daughters. Passing things down to your kids is something I strongly believe in. I still do many things my Grandmothers did including using their original kitchen bowls and other items, cooking from their hand written recipes or crocheting. I don’t want these things to be lost and a book like yours will help me as both my Grandmother’s have passed away.

  • Reply Mel Norris February 28, 2015 at 6:27 PM

Let’s face it, we all spend way too much time drooling on Pinterest. To have this book that is way more satisfying and probably includes things I will actually make, rather than everything I think I could make, but probably won’t, would be bliss. Always a lover of your work and tutorials – let’s get crafty!

  • Reply Lynda Taylor February 28, 2015 at 2:13 PM

I would love to have this book. I really need a creative kick up the backside.

I have been in a bit of a slump both emotionally and creatively, things are starting to look up but I still haven’t found my artistic mojo yet. This sounds like what I need and want.

  • Reply Amy Reynolds February 28, 2015 at 8:43 AM

Meet Me at Mikes opened my mind and soul up to the world of craft and sewing so many years ago. This was the starting point to my lifelong love for creating and so i feel its adpt that I thank you here today for giving me that precious gift. There is no question as to how your newest addition to your collection will further feed my passion for craft and provide me with many new ideas to pursue so I’d love a copy before it hits the shelves.

At night, I don’t have a cheeky wine, I have a cheeky crochet and chocolate. When the kids drive me crazy I take a hit of glitter, we all do! There’s nothing a crafty afternoon can’t fix. I don’t get a lot of time for it and I base a lot of the kids activities around it, but being constructive with craft is so soothing and happy making. I wish I could fit more of it into my life, it’s like fun exercise for my brain. One way or another I’m going to get my hands on your book, I can’t believe I have to wait until April!…I’m already getting it for one of my crafty friends! I really love what you’re sharing here and want to say thanks for all the amazing posts…I’m newish to the blog and am just having a great time reading it.

    Hi Pip!
I’ve just made it through the first year of being a new Mum, I adore my little one. I am just starting back into the workforce and like for so many others, juggling baby, partner, work and housework leaves so little spare time and energy.
I feel like on this wonderful journey into family life I am losing myself a little, so I would like to put my precious free time to good, soul-nourishing use by tapping into my creativity (which is bubbling away under the surface, but needs to be let out to stretch its legs). I need to do this both for myself, so that I feel happier, freer and lighter, and to set an example for my little one that it is important to love others but still be true to yourself and your heart of hearts.
I think your book might be a wonderful resource to help me direct my creative energy out into the world instead of it swirling around within.
    Xo

    Hiya Pip,
Being creative is absolutely necessary for my soul. I am drawn to something creative everyday. A little bit of crochet (I am working on a ripple blanket for my QS bed) a few stitches on an embroidery, a short potter in the vegie patch or a bit a bit of doodling before bed. I love the way you inspire others and make us all feel so very welcome. Congratulations on another book. I don’t own any of them but i would love to start with this one. Your other books are regularly borrowed from my local library for a crafty pick-me-up! Thanks.

I’d love to win your book – so I can gift it to my very creative daughter! With fixed income, I haven’t the money to buy things like this that I’d like so much to purchase.
She is the most creative person I know, but needs some help in directing that creativity – as her mind tends to try to work on several things at one time….she could easily earn a good living by her own hand – IF she knew how to direct her creative energy, she would fly! I wish you could meet her…sweet, loving – and has so many ideas cramming that beautiful head of hers.

If I don’t win it, I’ll have to save til next Christmas in hopes of giving it to her.

I would love this book because since I was diagnosed with a serious illness, which made me take a good look at my life, I discovered that craft is my soul. Craft is what I live and breathe and think about all day since I chose to do the things that make me happy (and I think anything you do is awesome anyway)

  • Reply emma February 25, 2015 at 10:21 PM

I taught myself to crochet last month after bookmarking your blog a few years ago. I’m making squares on the train each day. I’m in my final year of dental school and it’s intense, very stressful, so craft is proving good for a few things – my hands, for dexterity, my teeth, because I only stop clenching when I’m crocheting, and my patience, for my patients. That feels like soul.
I’d love a copy of the book because I’ve got probably 40 years of this career ahead and I’m forseeing a few craft projects as stress management along the way. It’s for the greater good.

At the beginning of last year I started a blog with Pip course. Straight away I started enjoying it. In the third week I was struck with the most hideous morning sickness and just looking at a computer screen made me sick. This made me really sad as I was having so much fun! I’m hoping that sometime in the next year that I will be able to start another blog with Pip course all over again. ( I hope your planning on running them for a while 🙂 ) But until then, I’m hoping to get some inspiration and reignite some of my passions by delving into your new book. Can’t wait!

During this long winter we’ve had in the UK (they always seem to last an eternity…made harder seeing all my Aussie friends and family’s summer pics on Instagram! Ha!), I’ve been rediscovering my love of handicrafts. But it’s not just about keeping the hands busy, I’ve discovered how good it is for the soul too – hence, why I’m SO keen to read your book Pip! My main creative pursuit – writing – is also my day job. I work as an editor by day, write a book and bits of freelance journalism at night and on the weekends, so my mind feels fried a lot of the time. Getting back into embroidery, cross stitch and learning to crochet (I’m doing a beginners class next week) has been wonderful. I’m curious to hear what else you have to say on the subject! Any book on creativity tends to light my fire. Looking forward to reading it regardless of whether I’m the lucky winner 🙂 xx

    Hi Pip,
I’d love to win an advanced copy of your book. I love your books & find them very inspiring & by how you’ve described this one, I’m hoping it will help me with honing in on a direction to take my own creative ideas.. I’ve been pinning craft posts & reading creative blogs & collecting craft supplies for years & years & ran a brown owls group for a while but I’ve never completely known which direction to take my creativity. I use to make jewellery & want to have an etsy store, then put it off to have my last child & then realised I don’t think I want to make the same things over & over again but rather help others make stuff & show people that anyone can be creative. I get huge bursts of creative inspiration & then periods of procrastination trying to work out which way to take my ‘vision’ & have a bit of self doubt & that ‘things have to be just right first’ mentality but now as my kiddies are that bit older I’d like to really focus on achieving my creative dreams I’m hoping to really spread some creativity around & share the happiness that craft brings. I definitely think your book & I can be friends ??
Thanks for always being so cheerful, Katie.
