Here’s what I’m eyeballing right now.
So very many good things you can watch if you are unable to take one more second of US election coverage.
The Crown
I am LOVING the latest breathtaking Netflix juggernaut so very much. Fabulous cast, beautiful sets, costumes and locations. Bewitchingly understated performances. (Well… except Winston!) All depicting the tragedy and triumph of the current Queen’s life.
I am trying NOT to binge watch this, because I want to soak up each ep and let the detail and drama wash over me properly. If you haven’t started this yet, grab a box of shortbread and a huge pot of tea/glass of gin and get on with it. Wear a kilt, even. On Netflix.
Glitch
Also on Netflix (thank god for Netflix!) this (genius Emma Freeman directed) Australian series is an ace spin on the usual, predictable zombie plot line. It starts with a muddy bang and continues in a sort of friendly-yet-gently-menacing style.
There’s a little of the brutality that you might expect, but it’s also really about making sense of relationships and identity in a world that’s confusing (even if you haven’t returned from the other side.) I loved this and can’t wait for Season 2. On Netflix. #PleaseSupportAustralianTelly
Better Things
I think this might be my favourite dramedy ever. EVER. It’s written by Louis CK and Pamela Adlon and is 1000% on point. Better Things follows single mum and actor Sam Fox as she tries to balance life, kids, love and career. That sounds kinda boring but it really, really is not.
Sam has a canny-yet-clumsy, truth-telling way of saying stuff perfectly… It’s beautifully written, funny and painful and perfectly encapsulates what it is to be a human, woman, mum. So, so, so good. Do not miss it. It’s on US iTunes. Thanks to Steve and Michelle for telling me about this.
I’m watching other less expertly made things too. Reality type things. But I won’t talk about that now. It upsets some people…
Hope you are holding up okay during this unnerving time.

Oh you must have a look at Black Mirror on Netflix. The episodes are all different and not connected to each other. Some are a bit dark but very entertaining. I started with season 3 episode 1. I think you will love it
I have been watching! Yes!! So good!
I saw Glitch on the ABC mid 2015 and love, love, loved it! So glad to hear they will be making a second season. But I don’t have Netflix 🙁
If you want a bit of fun (after all the drama from the US), I’d recommend Dr Strange at the pictures. I don’t usually like Marvel/Avenger stuff but this one was a total trip in 3D. Benedict Cumberbatch and Tilda Swinton make it great viewing!
very soothing post, Pip. How do you access us iTunes? I always seem to get stuck
One of my kids set US iTunes up for me, I am not sure how they did it, but if you Google around you might get some answers! x
If you can possibly swing it, get thee to the cinema and go see The Light Between Oceans. Absolutely beautiful film.
