Wednesday Writing Group

Hi guys!

I thought we could start a writing group together?! How great is that?!

Once week I’ll add a ‘Wednesday Writing Group’ post and we can all pop by and talk about what we are writing (bloggy or not) and how it’s going. We can also buddy up and read each other’s work or offer suggestions on writing resources, writing heroes and more. We can even share writing prompts (in case anyone’s stuck!)

I’ll post each Wednesday – and you can pop in here and share what you’re working on in the comments. Of course, you can also ask for advice or share any struggles/wins you are having!

So let’s get started!

What are you writing this week?

x Pip

I’ve got a recipe I’m going to write about soon… when I get a minute! It’s going to be for my potato bread recipe that I’ve developed over years of trials and disasters. It’s super allergy friendly so I’m a bit excited to share it for the other peeps that have trouble finding a bread they can eat when they are allergic to craploads of stuff.

ps: Love that you are writing yet another book Prolific Pip!

pps: What a great idea Wednesday Writing is!

All my writing is in my head right now that’s not how I want it to be but I’m bone tired so whenever I get time to myself I find I don’t have the energy to give to my blog. It makes me really sad, kinda of like I’m failing my blog & letting my readers down…. Sorry to be such a downer but it’s just how life is right now.

Wednesday Writing group sound awesome! Not a lot of writing is happening here at the moment except jotting down fragments of things that might become bigger things. I have 3 blog posts in the works but they are more photographic and collage focused rather than wordy. I have been drawn to poetry lately so there will definitely be more of that to come!

This group is a great idea! I’m not writing anything right now, but am pondering future blog posts, especially after my last one went a big gangbusters thanks to some awesome shares on social media.
I find myself a bit hesitant and run and ‘hide behind the curtains’ when one goes really well… hmm, what’s that about??

I am completely a copywriting course with AWC, contemplating doing the Magazine writing one as well later down the track. Working at getting more paid writing done & getting through Pip’s Shake it Off blog ebook to improve my blog. Looking forward to the Wednesday Writing Group. Thanks for all the inspiration Pip xx

I am writing lots of blog posts, but also trying to carve out time to organise the blog posts I have written at Chasing His Sunshine into a book about surviving the first year of grief. It’s emotionally difficult, but ultimately worth it. I was reading a book on writing a book and it suggested a great idea to get the words churning – writing the masters. The idea is that you adopt the voice of a favourite author by recreating one of their passages – clearly it’s just for the writer to do – not to publish anywhere. I thought it was an interesting idea.

Love this idea Pip ! I have just joined blog yay and I am very glad to be here. about a month ago I did a creative writing course with awc I absolutely loved it. We had to write a scene with characters and dialogue. So I am trying to expand on the story I wrote. Finding it hard but I am enjoying it. I am also trying to think of my next post for my blog. Happy writing !

Oh I’ve wondered what those courses would be like! How great that you did that! x

I’m writing the fourth in my #capturingyou series and this one is nude vs naked I’m also pondering beauty and ritual as I work out my next video for the Perfection Paradox. I’m also trying to buckle down and do my uni stuff so that will probably win out!

Hi Pip, what a wonderful idea. I am thinking about writing a few posts that are bumbling around in my head, but one in particular was inspired by an interview of Elizabeth Gilbert done at the Perth Writers Festival this week (so jelly I couldn’t get to that one I can tell you!). She was discussing her book The Signature of All Things and how it took her three years to write. She did an inordinate about of research because it is an historical novel. She said that one of the greatest resources she found was of a Philadelphian house wife who was a prolific diarist who wrote quite literally about every day life. She said it has been used a billion times by historical novelists who write about Philadephia because it is such a rich source of every day ordinary living. It occurred to me to start a series called “an ordinary life”, or “the routine of life” to document living life on a daily basis. I do think that so many stories are being lost, those every day stories that in a hundred or so years will give an indication of what every day living is like, and I thought it would be a good idea to start documenting something for posperity. Of course, it could be as boring as anything, but I’ll try to infuse it with some interest 🙂 Deb, I can’t wait to read your book!

Hi Pip – this is such a great idea. I’m currently writing chapters for my book – “Crafting a Community”. I’ve got the bones of each chapter but they each need padding out. I’m wondering if it’s best to work on one chapter at a time or is there a better way. I’m also writing an article about my snail mail group. And an interview with my landlord about the creative space we are creating. Plus a heap of workshops that I will be running there. Phew! Lots to do but very exciting! I’m discovering that I quite like writing.

That’s ace Deb! I think work on one chapter at a time – pull focus into just one thing and write like crazy (you can always edit it down/back later, but get those words down!) You sound super writer-y this week! Go you!

I am researching for my blog via your Shake it Up ebook. I love the suggestions for what you can blog about. Also-your imagined reader. I listed all the traits yesterday and today the IRL person popped into my head while was meditating-a playwright in New York who I am friends with on twitter and email. She has all the traits that I found in doing the ‘what are your strengths’ part of the ebook. And also, she reflects the two different sides of blogs I’m attracted to. One is gutsy, raw honest, intelligent, the other fun, childlike, creative, playful. She is all that and more- my ideal reader. Thanks Pip. Love the idea of a supportive writing group x

She sounds like an amazing person to be writing to/for, Julia. I can’t wait to hear how it feels (to you) to have that audience of one imagined ideal reader.

Aw hai! It’s me! I am writing:

Blog posts for Blog Yay! and Meet Me At Mikes – the MM@M one is a Gilmorealong instalment.
I’m also writing a new book – I’m only a little way in (4000 words) but I’m excited.
