Things To Watch This Easter

March 25, 2016

I am so excited that Easter is finally here.

The year has been so busy, so far. Easter was my line in the sand. When I got here it meant that I’d done a heap of important jobs and it was now time to stay close to home, hang with my peeps, cook and eat, make stuff and watch good things on TV. It is with great relief that I ease myself into the next few days. Ph-ew!

I’m going to have a crack at making some Hot Cross Buns tomorrow. We have a bunch of gluten-avoiders at our house now, so I am going to make a gluten-free brioche dough and see where that leads me, HCB-wise. I am thinking it will be a good thing, because I like a chewy-yet-light bun. I have high hopes… They may be dashed, though!

I’m working on an embroidery project and I am going to make some more of these cotton face cloths too (I bought some cute new colours in cotton and I can’t wait to get cracking with those!)

But back to the viewing… I have a few things queued up on my watch list. They are:

Indian Summers
Grantchester
Bunheads
The Night Manager
(Even more) Gilmore Girls repeats
The most recent couple of eps of The Walking Dead

And here’s a few things I have watched/rewatched recently, that I really loved:

The Returned (US)
The Returned (France)
30 Degrees In February
Wentworth
Advanced Style
Billions
War and Peace
The Politician’s Husband
Prime Suspect

And if you check this post and also this post, there are some other really good things to watch, too. Just in case that’s what you are after. It might be helpful.

Some other good bookish things:
Michelle Crawford and Matthew Evans have a new book out
Sally Wise has a new book out
Michelle Mackintosh has a new book (nearly) out

What am I reading? (…I don’t hear you ask..!)  I am reading Mango and Mimosa by Suzanne St Albans (I borrowed it from the library) and it’s a total delight! I am loving it.

What are you going to watch (or read or bake or make) these holidays (if you are staying in, some of the time)?

I love Easter too, am working most days but I love my clients and I play Easter Bunny!
But there’ll still be time for reading and HOC season 4 (nasty nasty Clare), I poached quinces from my best friend’s tree- 4hrs in oven with cinnamon and anise and vanilla, oh the smell in the kitchen and I am looking at patterns for an easy cardigan for my newborn nephew.
Love Easter, so nice being autumn and low key and all the chocolate everywhere.
    Happy Easter Pip!

Your Easter break sounds delightful. We always stay close to home over Easter, it’s one of my favourite times of year. Easter (at least for me) feels like such a more relaxed time of year than Christmas. Needless to say we will watching, reading, playing, making and being generally relaxed and creative. The kids are having intermittent binge watching sessions of Full House (since they saw Fuller House, they’re into the original and I must say it’s a bit of fun watching along with them). I’m going to try and track down What’s Eating Gilbert Grape I haven’t seen it since I was a teen and someone mentioned it to me recently, and I feel the urge to revisit that one. I’ll be writing and working a little but I will be getting crafting with some canvas shoe art and the kids will have general free range with art and craft. Oh and I’m totally addicted to find a word puzzles like when I was a kid so I’m constantly picking up my book and hunting a word or two down and I’ll be reading Ash Road. Have a beautiful Easter Pip. x

FIND A WORD puzzles?! That is so cool. I want to do that too! I love the sound of YOUR Easter, Trudie. We are peas in a pod and I agree – Easter is such a relaxed time of year – my favourite!! x

Your weekend sounds much like mine- a bit of crochet ( blanket & dishcloths & cowls), some cooking ( roast chook, beans & rice, pancakes/crepes & maybe some hot cross buns if o can be bothered), some sewing & I did have plans to continue watching GG but my DVD player broke so those plans have been dashed. I really need to get with the modern world & figure out some sort of streaming/online thing.

Enjoy your days at home Pip xx

Oh did you see on LunchLady blog that Kate posted a GF hot cross bun recipe this week? Maybe that will work for your crew?

Streaming is so easy! I know you can do it! Get the kids to help you work it out – they will know what to do. xx

I have the latest Mollie Makes magazine and the free gift is Mr Fox and Pals!!! Cant wait to make these tiny softies. I bought it a week ago but have been working, working, working, but today is my day off. I’m also finishing a weird project for a friend, she asked me to make a kawaii uterus softie. Just got to stuff and sew on her face. She’s taking it with her to Japan. Im a bit proud that something I’ve made is going on a tour of Japan ????
