Crochet Hello Pip-Life

:: There’s Lots To Like About Today

hooking-again hooking books acorns

When I got up this morning this song was playing on the radio. It made me make French Toast with Sriracha. It’s that kind of song and I felt very affirmed when I heard it. Then at lunch, this one was playing. I smiled into my croquettes, because I love that one too.

You know, there’s lots to like about today.

The kids are playing music upstairs, singing sweary tunes and possibly heckling people from the upstairs windows. Sorry if they are doing that!  It’s hard to tell where they are pointing their singing. Their song about the dog that died was really sad.

One of their bands is named after a dirty VHS tape they found in a rubbish pile. They’re called Cinesex. Coming to you from a smoky bar/laneway/disused railway yard some time soon, if you are really lucky.

It’s muck-up day for Max’s Year 12 pals (he skipped ahead and finished last year, so he’s been waiting for them to catch up.) Sascha was wearing a blue dress and blue eyeshadow. He looked really fetching. Phoebe was dressed as Pippi which made perfect sense as I would definitely vote her the most likely to a) tote a horse and b) sing rollicking sea shanties.

In other news, Ari dropped his phone out the window and it survived in perfect condition. Rin messaged me from her boss’s new place, Heart Attack and Vine (which is apparently delightful!) She was inviting me for coffee, but I could not go because I was having a meeting with Clare and my friends Defah and Jesse – about next week’s Big Hearted Business Creative Retreat reprise. I am excited to be going back to Bali on Wednesday!

I got a tiny bit of crochet in very early this morning as I watched the latest episode of Sons Of Anarchy. For real. That show is so bad/so good. You won’t believe your eyeball*. You may tell your imaginary friend all about it across a table in a truckstop*.

* Sons of Anarchy plot references

(Is the new episode of Serial up yet? That would make it an even better day…)

If you were wondering about how to do the crochet, I saw something like this on Pinterest. The pattern was in Dutch, so I just improvised and guessed how it was done. I’m liking how it’s turning out. It’s actually very similar to Larksfoot, so that feels nice and familiar. The yarn is cheap and cheery acrylic from Spotlight/Lincraft/a $2 shop. I love BRIGHT and SOFT. That’s just how I roll, ya know?

I’ve been reading a few different things and thinking about my g-grandfather’s writing and where it fits into my life. Those acorns are from his lovely, oaky place of rest in Kew. I wonder what it would be like to have an oak tree growing on you… Probably really nice.

I launched 3 eCourse intakes today too. If you haven’t tried one before, I totally recommend them. Blog With Pip (my learn to blog course) and Inspiration Information For Bloggers (my creative pick-me-up for bloggers) run in November. My be-more-creative course (which is for everyone – not just for bloggers) begins in late January next year. I’m running small groups, so you should nip in quick if you wanna join up. Such firm friendships form in these courses AND you get to learn new creative skills, so it’s a win-win, really.

Apart from all that we’re having roast lamb and Greek salad for dinner… Saying that made me crave a glass of crispy white wine. (I’m sometimes drinking wine these days, just for a change!)

What are you having for dinner? Was your day good, too?

x Pip

    Oh Pip,
This is my favourite post to date.
I am not sure what it was in particular, maybe just the whole assemblage of your day. I feel happy that you are just enjoying it.

I had an amazing day thanks Pip! I drove from Eucla into SA and met some lovely travellers including a Japanese man walking across several continents for peace! We had a couple of cups of tea (the best sort, teabags and thermos!) and had a great talk with limited words although I knew Konichiwa and he knew thank you! Have a wonderful time in Bali! sue x

Oh hello! I have been wondering about how you are going, Sue! That man sounds amazing… I can’t even imagine what it takes to commit to such a BIG project. How fab that you are meeting people like that and having amazing days! Love to you! xx

Pip, this post was lovely to read. Made me happy. And that Paul Kelly song? It always makes me a little teary just because it’s so beautiful. I cry about beautiful things a lot, especially songs. It’s silly but I can’t help it.

And today was a good day for me because I got out of the house & went to visit with a friend. It might not sound like much but with two babies who sleep at different times of the day it’s very easy to become house bound because well rested babies are happy babies & I like happy babies. I also like seeing my friends, especially when they make delicious apple & raspberry cake for us to eat while we chat & laugh.

Lots of lovely good things Pip! Love the crochet – might have to give that pattern a go, it looks perfect for stash busting.

Ohhh I love that book Daily Rituals. I have it on my shelf and have read about 3/4 of it. Seeing as reading is not one of my daily rituals the book will possibly sit there for a bit more but i do love it. Also, we had roast lamb for dinner, nothing fancy but very good.

Mine was weird mostly but ended good. I went with my parents to The Paper Cinema’s Odyssey which was totally amazing and brilliant and then we went to a French place for dessert and had delicious crepes. I’m glad your day was good Pip! Those books look interesting *goes and sees*.
