:: The Reginald Softie Portrait Prize

January 22, 2014

I’ve been lucky enough to work with the CAE on a couple of projects recently and I’m really excited about this brand new crafty initiative they’ve just launched: The Reginald CAE Portrait Prize For Softies. It is what it seems, crafters make a soft toy that captures a well known person and it’ll be judged on its merits (and maybe win a prize!) Loosely based on The Archibald Portrait Prize, The Reginald aims to celebrate craft and favourite people, all backed by some great types like Brother sewing machines, CAE and Frankie Magazine.

Make a softie which resembles someone you admire/like/think is interesting (the ones shown are of ME and Cat Rabbit!) and go in the running to win some good stuff!

The Reginald Portrait Prize For Softies winner will receive:

  • Brother NS55 Sewing Machine, valued at $699
  • A commissioned soft sculpture by Cat Rabbit
  • Inclusion on Pip Lincolne’s ‘Meet me at Mikes’ blog
  • Inclusion on frankie magazine’s blog
  • Subscription to frankie magazine

The super talented Cat Rabbit and myself are part of the judging panel (along with Lara from Frankie Mag!) You can find out MUCH more about The Reginald here. Please do pass this on to anyone crafty in your circle. Let’s celebrate great people craftily!

Submissions close on (Rin’s birthday!) the 7th March. Get cracking!
