Here are some behind the scenes photos from my book shoot on Friday! Yay! It’s quite hard not to reveal the projects, so excuse the modesty dots across some images! 🙂
We shot at a studio in Prahran from 8 til 6 pm. It was a LONG day and we had lots of shots to get (including the cover) but we got it all done and even had time for a delicious (quick!) lunch.
My dear friend Michelle Mackintosh did a pop-up as stylist (which was SO GREAT!) and we celebrated all things creative, happy and friendly too.
We had a visit from a cute baby and a gorgeous pup (thanks Katie!) You will see them when the book comes out – they were divine and beautifully behaved and huggable too!
In the photos you can see:
Julie Renouf – our fabulous photographer
Linda – her assistant
Kirsten – my publisher at Penguin
Adam – the art director (also a Penguin!)
Michelle – stylist and super-pal!
I’m really excited for my book now. It’s amazing when something is just an idea and you do lots of work and then get to see it actually become a reality. From nothing you can make something. It’s such a long but super-rewarding process. I am already thinking about my next projects and what I want to hatch.
This book was fun because I got to make collages for each chapter, too. I love making things and I love challenging myself to do stuff that might seem a bit out of my orbit… Do you like doing that too? I can’t recommend it highly enough because you learn a whole heap of stuff about persistence and commitment and success that way.
The Friendly Society is eleven chapters long. It’s a book of reminders really, about making time for happiness, ideas and creativity. But it’s not all chirpy. There are bits in there about riding out tough times and coping with difficult days too. Apart from the wordy bits there are 22 recipes and 11 craft projects. And some pretty pictures interspersed throughout to give your eyes a treat.
Thanks for hanging out with me on my booky journey. It’s a real dream. I hope you get to do your dreams too.
