Pip-Life Taking Stock

Taking Stock: December

December 31, 2016

What better way to end the year than with a final stock-take of where things are at?

Let’s do it! (You can scroll down for your own blank list to copy and paste, if you fancy!)

(And don’t forget that Taking Stock is now a really helpful and fun eCourse – beginning in a few weeks! Treat yourself and sign up  and we can navigate the new year with creative gusto, together! It’s going to be really ace!)

Taking Stock : December

Making : A blanket (surprise, surprise!) It’s looking super-ace.
Cooking : Swedish meatballs and mashed potato for Ari.
Drinking : Mineral water, tea, lots of coffee, the odd Kir Royale (because festive!)
Reading: Travels With My Aunt by Graham Greene.
Trawling: Netflix for good things to watch: A bit of Gossip Girl, a bit of Silk, a bit of Bake-Off.
Wanting: The best for everyone in 2017.
Looking: At my bedroom and thinking I want to change everything around for the new year.
Deciding: If I should buy a new book…
Wishing: The best for everyone in 2017.
Enjoying: Doing holiday stuff with Ari. Haircuts, op-shopping, chats, snacking, etc.
Waiting: For cooler weather. Please. Hot weather is not my homie.
Liking: Salad days, though…
Wondering: If we can make it through the day without another amazing person dying.
Loving: Baci. Do you like them? The chocolate kind, I mean…
Pondering: Going to the shops for snacks: nice bread, brie, pate, etc.
Listening: To the birds twittering their cheery tunes.
Considering: What to read next…
Buying: Not much, after the cash frenzy that Christmas is.
Watching: A man with a tie talking with the sound turned off (on ABC Breakfast.)
Hoping: I can watch something with subtitles AND crochet.
Marvelling: At the fact that the year has gone. Just one more day and we’re done and dusted.
Cringing: At all the things I forgot to do this year. So many things, so few days.
Needing: To get dressed and get out of the house.
Questioning: My work ethic.
Smelling: Toast and coffee drifting through the house.
Wearing: PJs and a devil-may-care attitude.
Noticing: How still it is, and how quiet, on these days between Christmas and the New Year.
Knowing: Me, knowing you, a-ha.
Thinking: About all the good snacks in my town. BBQ pork buns from Victoria St, Vietnamese pork rolls from Smith St, cakes from Lygon St, cold noodle salad from Box Hill… The list goes on.
Admiring: All the people on Instagram who are so amazing at doing all the things, all the time! How do they manage it? I feel so BORING in comparison!
Getting: Worryingly addicted to Apple News on my phone. Send help.
Bookmarking: This ace post. I’m all about this.
Disliking: How quickly these sleepy holiday days are slipping away.
Opening: Windows. (For the breeze.)
Closing: Windows (Too hot!)
Feeling: Quiet.
Hearing: Quiet.
Celebrating: End of 2016 days.
Pretending: To have it all together (aren’t we all?!)
Embracing: The idea of a mysterious new year.

AND, here are my BEST NINE Instagram images of the year, according to this website!

Have a wonderful last day of 2016, gang! Look after yourself.

Thanks Pip, I really want to blog today about Christmas and the festive days and goals for 2017 and reflections from 2016 and I just don’t know where to start. Perhaps today is a good day for me to take stock! I look forward to your bright, creative and thoughtful posts in 2017 x

What a lovely rundown of what’s what Pip, if I owned a business with bits and bobs to count, you’d be the head stocktake brigadier for sure.
I am with you on hot days not being my homie. It hasn’t even really been that hot yet and already I’m longing for autumn.
I think your work ethic is probs A-OK, but I like that you’re thoughtful about such things.
Here’s to a bookish, creative, connected year for you Pip.
I’ll be over on Instagram following my colour bliss, and sharing photos of the sky.

Admiring: All the people on Instagram who are so amazing at doing all the things, all the time! How do they manage it? I feel so BORING in comparison! Surely you are kidding me? I’m on an Insta break for this very reason, and you do way more stuff and more interesting stuff than I.

Happy New Year to you, may it bring most of what you wish for, loads of love and laughter and friendship.

    cheers Kate

Hah! I am really not kidding – I see people posting creative output like clockwork, THREE TIMES A DAY, every day! I am gobsmacked by that! It’s beyond prolific, don’t you think?! Happy New Year to you too, KATE! xx
