Hello

:: Sunday Catchup…

September 12, 2009
Hi! How is your weekend going? It’s been so lovely and warm here in Melbourne, I feel totally excitedly energised all over again! So nice! It’s been a bit of a dark drippy Winter, hasn’t it?

Yesterday we went for lots of walks. We went to the market and got LOTS of fresh things to fill up the new fridge. Cherry popped in – she’s one of the leaders of Brown Owls in Adelaide! PLUS we made dinner for our lovely friend Gemma (who we hadn’t seen for soooooo long due to everyone’s work commitments).

For dinner we had ::
Big tomatoes stuffed with arborio rice, leftover roasted pumpkin and roasted garlic.
Sliced mushrooms, sauteed with white wine, garlic and thyme
Hasselback potatoes – easy and yummy – see some here
Roasted parsnip and carrot : just in olive oil, cut into chunks and roasted in a hot oven with a diced onion, sea salt and freshly ground pepper.

and Cam cooked steaks for the boys…

We sat up til midnight crocheting and chatting. It was very fun. Yes it was.

Today I’ve been eating leftovers, drinking coffee, listening to the rain and wondering how the Spring Fair is going to go, considering the inclement weather. The shop is closed on Sundays – it’s so nice to have the building to ourselves! No offence, but how would you feel if you could hear all sorts of interesting conversations constantly buzzing in the very next room. It would be a little distracting, no?!

In other news, we think that we might rent a small studio space next year : perhaps above the pub on the corner. Thinking that drawing some lines between work and home would be really beneficial for us all – and apparently it will be more productive too?! I’m not sure. It would be weird to leave the building and head off to do some work. I think I would just sit there giggling and feeling like I was playing at something. BUT it would be good to work without the time being constantly punctuated by visitors, washing, phone calls, sweeping up, grocery shopping and the like. That would be really good. Can you believe we are talking about next year already?! Yikes.

Do tell me what you are up to this weekend (and next year) – and don’t forget to go check out the forum. It’s really good over there. There are tips on how to make things, where to buy bakers twine, places to find Mason Jars, what’s happening in Alice Springs, travelling with kids, feel good music and videos. SO MUCH STUFF!

This weekend, please also check out ::
Once Upon – via Leeloo and Art4Friends – maybe you or a lovely friend of yours might submit their artwork?
And the Retroage Vintage Fabric blog – a giveaway, my guest post and lots of amazing fabric. Even the New York Times loves them!

Tipped off about another video by Abbytryagain : I found this too : the cool home and studio of a couple of my all time fave makers!
