Annie Sloan : Unfolded have been sponsoring my blog for a little over 12 months. I really love working with them and hatching cute projects with their Chalk Paint™. This week, I painted these cute pots for my new garden (and I have some other projects lined up in the wings too!)
Annie Sloan have just launched a really cute competition called Made It My Own With Annie Sloan. Create your own upcycled project with Annie Sloan products, photograph it with this cute frame, share on social media using the #MadeItMyOwn tag (and upload to the Annie Sloan gallery, if you’d like to do that too!) There are prizes and it’s a great way to see what other people are working on and get inspired. More info here! Get a wriggle on because the final prize draw is September 30th!
Maybe you want to get inspired by MY project? I’m calling them Fiesta Pots because they seem very festive and they make me want to eat tacos and drink sangria. Maybe they have that effect on you too? Or maybe you have to make them and find out?!
Make some Fiesta Pots
Gather your supplies:
Thin painters tape (masking tape) or if you have any odds and ends of washi tape, you can use those like I did!
Chalk Paint™ by Annie Sloan in various colours
Terracotta pots (we repurposed some old roadside-recovered ones and bought some new ones for $1 a pot, too!)
Paint brushes
Plants (we chose herbs and some strawberries)
Potting mix (choose good quality so your plants stand a good chance of survival!)
Get making:
Tape your pots to create geometric or random designs. Like so…
Paint the appropriate taped-off areas – or paint some freehand designs if you are allergic to straight lines.
Go nuts and paint super decoratively or keep it simple. It’s up to you.
Express yourself and make it your own.
Allow the pots to dry. It really doesn’t take long, but the light was fading and it was getting really cold so we left them overnight and went inside to have dinner.
Once they are dry (or next day, if you are me) you can remove the tape and start potting up your plants.
The thing about these pots is that the more you paint, the more you want to paint.
You could consider you palette from the get-go and choose only brights or only pastels. I just chose the colours that seemed to pair nicely and got painting. A bit more of an intuitive approach, if you will.
Once you are done, pop them in a row in your garden and marvel at how cute they are. Cam found this plant stand on a kerbside rubbish pile and it made the perfect home for these pots. I know that it’s super rusty, but I really like it like this!
Now go make some tacos. Or salsa. And drink some sangria. And munch some jalepenos.
Perfect weekend = sorted!
Also – LOOK! I have a garden now!!!!
