Hello Pip-Life

:: Showing Off

September 26, 2013

We went to the show yesterday!  I had a sore wrist and fuzzy eyes and was a bit tired generally, so I thought it would be a good idea to ditch work for the afternoon and make the most of the beautiful day.

We had a really nice time! We looked at all the amazing craft exhibits, visited the cows, patted goats, cuddled dogs, bought a few show bags, hung out at the Country Women’s Association, watched the wood chopping and generally lapped it all up.

It’s such a noisy place. You really have to have your wits about you and resolve not to get cross with all the queues and the bumping into people and the crazy loud music…. But once you surrender to that, it’s kind of great.

We found quiet spots in the cattle pavilion and the dog sheds. And there was a kind of bar/lounge thingy where you could sit and watch the horse riding competition without getting too sunny or harangued.

I missed out on the CWA sandwiches as they were all gone when I got there. Later, as we were leaving, I saw that they’d restocked them ready for the late afternoon rush. I was too tired to queue again, so I left with sandwich remorse.  I could see their delicious triangles of Nanna-ness through the window and behind the glass, but my feet made me walk on. They’d had their fill, even though feet don’t eat sandwiches.  Still, apart from THAT (and the lack of chickens) it was a totally brilliant day!

Do you ever go to the local show? Or the Royal Melbourne Show?  What are your highlights?!

x Pip
