Running away from home?

These bloom-festooned weekender mini suitcases are made by Bantamware. They hail from the 60s and are just the best!  I bought one a few years ago as a prop for a book and I still, to this day, feel extra chipper when I clap eyes on it. I kind of wish I had a couple more so I could make a satisfying little stack…

You know, talking of stacks, I used to get a bit obsessed with collecting things like a demon. Now I know that there’s a lifetime to gather the things that we truly love, so I’m going to put this on my lifetime list and slow the ‘must have’ urge RIGHT DOWN. Other cute florally cases will pop up at the right time, I reckon… No rush to have all the stuff, right?! Don’t you think?!

If you WERE running away – supposing that everyone at home, people and pets, would be okay without you for a wee while – where would you go?

I’m running away this weekend for a girls night with some old school friends , but yes those cases are adorable and I am now coveting one ( the blue one). Instead I’m taking a grey duffel bag which seems rather drab in comparison. A cozy cottage with an warm fire is an appealing destination for running away in winter I feel.

I’m not sure where I’d run away to, because each place I imagine having run away to I then imagine myself wanting my partner and mates along with me! So maybe just a normal holiday is in order. Somewhere warm that smelled like summer.

Oh I think I’d need to run away with friends or family too.
I love my own company at home or pottering on the allotment or when I go for a run, but when I think about going somewhere new or different it’s with people I know.

Oh, Pip! I have one of those! Alas, mine was not purchased as a collectible, but it is mine from childhood. I would use it when going to stay the weekend with my grandparents. Now it houses the beautiful collection of doll’s clothes sewn by my grandmother for my mother in the 1940’s. It is safe at my mom’s house.

By the way, my mini suitcase is a great combination of purples. Thanks for posting this. You started my day in the USA with a big smile filled with happy memories.
