My friend Lily Mae posted this on her Facebook profile this morning and I knew that you guys would love to know about it too (if you don’t already!)
Here’s what the good folk at The Befriend a Child in Detention Project have to say:
The Befriend a Child in Detention Project is planning its next tranche of books and resources to be sent to refugee and asylum seeker children on Nauru.
We are asking for donations of:
Picture books
Poetry books
Novels
Riddle and joke books
Educational resources for children of every age
Blank exercise books, notebooks and diaries
Writing and drawing materials
Please send donations to:
The Befriend a Child in Detention Project
PO Box 1282
Carlton VIC 3053
We are also asking for financial donations to cover postage costs of sending books and resources to Nauru. Details for making a financial donation, and more information about donations can be found on our website or you can email us.
No time like this weekend to get cracking on this. I am going to do some hunting and gathering around my place because I have heaps of these cool things just sitting in boxes, getting dusty.
Much better that someone super special who is enduring something unfathomable has them, rather than saving for a rainy day.
And maybe a trip to Officeworks would be good too. Yep.

This is not a reply but a similar request for somewhere in Sydney to give books etc
Could you please advise locations where books could be dropped off (if any) as i live in regional Victoria..
