Hello!

I’m popping in early today with One + Four = Life, because I am throwing a little party for a few friends this afternoon. Better earlier than never, right?!

Have you had a nice week? I have had a busy one – dotted with good things (in my life) and bad things (in the news). I’m going to talk about my life in this post. That’s the life I know the best.

My photos for this week (from top to bottom)…

One
I was in The Sunday Age ‘Sunday Life’ magazine today. I got to write a piece and they published it with a photo of me. Of course, I am not a fan of getting my photo taken, but I think I look really happy in this shot. Like a happy, crafty chipmunk (which is what I am!) Thanks to everyone who messaged me saying they’d read it. It was a lovely one to write!

Two
My couch. With a poncho and lots of cushions* and some lovely early sunshine peeking in. Cosy town!  (Lexi from Freedom gave me the orange plaid cushion!)

Three
I made these Raspberry And Coconut Tarts for my party today. I also made Brownies. Both recipes are from my new book! Cam made Coconut Cookies for the GF crowd. They are from the good old Australian Women’s Weekly.

Four
I was at the ABC the other day and I saw Waleed Aly. In fact I sat one table away from him in the cafe there. I am a Waleed fan, so I rang Cam and whispered to him that I was sitting next to Waleed. Later, I waited until he was REALLY FAR AWAY and snapped a photo (because I thought that would be funny!) I didn’t want to intrude, but it seemed kind of okay to take a photo of Waleed as a faraway figure… (I KNOW. It’s WEIRD!)

If you’d like to share your week and play One + Four = Life, then be my guest. Add your link below or in the comments, if you prefer!

I’m so glad I joined in again today, because seeing how few photos I have from last week has motivated and inspired me to take more this week. It is such a great idea to have a little snap shot of the week, I still haven’t read your article, but I am dipping in and out of your book and really enjoying it. So is my eldest daughter and we talk about it, like a mini book club/Pip Lincolne fan club. It’s so great that your book is selling well and selling out. Emily 🙂

Oh my gosh. I love the mother/daughter book club thing. I am so glad you can enjoy it together. That’s the best! Thanks for joining in One + Four this week, too! x

Love the picture, it suits you! Your baking looks and sounds delicious. I had an afternoon tea party yesterday and treated guests to banoffee pie, it was a winner with the plate licked clean! Love those no fail entertaining recipes x

    Cheers,

Waleed is a fantastic bloke. A fair minded and educated journalist. His opinions are expressed respectfully and he considers the opinions of others when he speaks. To top it off he’s a fan of Tame Impala and got this 50 year old into a young modern group that know how to really rock it. Waleed is a bloody legend.

You have had an eventful week! How great that all your media stuff on the radio/magazines is going well and the sales of your book have skyrocketed. You must be so thrilled that it’s finally out there and people are enjoying it. I certainly am! How funny about Waleed! The only famous person I see on a semi regular basis is Bruce McAvaney who walks along the beach with his dog the same time as me when he is in Adelaide. I just give him a smile and try not to trip over the seaweed!

I am a bit gobsmacked – it’s been so lovely. MUCH bigger than I expected!!!
ALOS: When I had my cafe, Bruce used to come in all the time! He was always nice and friendly! BE CAREFUL of seaweed!!! xx

Hi Pip! It’s good to write about the life you know the best 🙂 So cool that you were in Sunday Life. I’ll try to take a peek at the online version. I am totally with you on not wanting to intrude on people’s privacy…that’s so cute that you snapped Waleed from half a block away! I am still awkward about photographing people’s faces without asking…and I’m often scared to ask! I know that NGV/Southbank corner so well, it’s nice to see it in the autumn light. I was an intern at ABC Radio Australia a few years ago, which was great fun, and every morning I would ride my bike in, lock it up, and walk up the stairs past the 774 studio…I saw John Faine all the time! I was like OMG, it’s actually John Faine ON THE RADIO. Once, John Clarke and Bryan Dawe were guests on the show I was interning on, that was exciting. They were really nice and chatty. Then Barry Cassidy came in to talk about politics and I didn’t know who he was…shame on me!

    • Reply Meet Me At Mikes May 3, 2015 at 1:38 PM

I love Barry Cassidy! His daughter is friends with Rebecca (Max’s girlfriend). I am IN AWE! LOL! Joh Faine is nice, isn’t he? I went on his show a little while ago… Waleed is JUST as ace as Barry, I reckon. Super smart and interesting to listen to! Hope your day is going nicely! x

      • Reply Isabel May 3, 2015 at 2:36 PM

Yes, Waleed is ace for sure. Jon, I can’t say if he’s nice or not as I never actually spoke to him, but if you think so then I’m sure he is. Certainly smart! I went to school with John Clarke’s daughters…Melbourne is a small world hey 🙂 My day is going nicely, apart from the moral dilemma of whether to do Chinese homework (worthy) V to watch more Game of Thrones while working on my blanket (unworthy?). Maybe a bad idea to start GOT…it’s awesome! x
