(Not) Good At Naps

I, my friends, am not good at naps. Nope. I never have been. I don’t know why. What I am, is good at nups. Nups are the sort of nap you have when you are watching something or reading something, cosy on the couch, and you realise you fell asleep, and that sleep lasted a luxurious three and a half minutes. Sigh.

I nup quite often. But I do not nap.

Nups are the sort of dozy suspect that involve zero benefits – apart from perhaps a wee headache or a sense of ongoing confusion.

Naps apparently have many more rewards. If you’ve been reaping those, I am so happy for you.

For me, though, naps result in me accidentally staying up all night post-nap, due to the consequent shook-up sleep pattern. It’s the sort of “reward” I can do without.

I am sure I am in the minority with my nap issues. I am sure lots of people are brilliant at them and enrich their life with much-needed snoozes.

This blanket is for them.

Yeh I get it…I nap for about an hour tops. Luckily I live in a quiet neighborhood, because blocking out noise is hard. I get up early – like 5/6 or even 3am at times as Hubs leaves for work at 4am. Without the nap, I can barely stay awake until he finishes his shift of 10 hours!! So it helps me stay awake until 8pm….Otherwise I fall asleep in front of the tv. Watching “Trust” and the Terror currently 🙂

It’s an acquired taste for sure, but usually the hot/cold gets me up, plus I can speak to peeps o/s in england/america, so I like that aspect…

There was a time when I couldn’t see the point of a daytime nap. I just couldn’t get into that zone.
Then my kids came along, and discovered the life enhancing qualities of a twenty minute power nap. The kids are a lot bigger now, and I don’t need to nap everyday. But when I do, I actually climb under the covers excited by the promise of fresh energy for the rest of the day. Excited about sleep? I must be getting old.
