How about we talk about some nice stuff? Just in case you fancy snapping something up for yourself or a good friend / dear family member? Let’s do that!
1/ Firstly a thank you to Sonya from SOHMO who sent me a box of beautiful scissors, shears and pins to try out. They are absolutely brilliant and I wanted to a) confirm this and let you know about them, in case you had not heard of them and b) thank Sonya! They’re locally thunk up, but made in Italy – brilliant quality, gold handles, sharp and snazzy. Perfect for crafty types like me/us! You can find your closest stockist here – or become a stockist, even?! I would. If I had a shop still.
2/ LOOK at these Liberty Eiderdowns! Gasp. I actually – no joke – had a dream about them last night. In the dream I had a giant shop and the thing I was most excited about was … Liberty Eiderdowns. So those are on this nice stuff list this week. Because gorgeou. And ACTUAL stuff dreams are made of. They are available at Scout St Kilda and I THINK they are made by Jo Ludbrook. I think.
3/ I saw Dawn O’Porter wearing these on Instagram and then I wished I had them too … Who wouldn’t want PUFFIN SWIMMERS?! They are from BATOKO.
4/ We’re veering from winter to summer back to winter, but bear with me. I’m obsessed with gumboots. I’m not sure why. I think it’s that they are a) comfortingly nostalgic b) not (usually) hard to slop on if you need to go out into the muddy garden to throw a ball to your dog. These ones are ace, right? I’m very into them and would like to slosh along a wintry, sleepy beach town road in them, looking for wombat holes and similar. They are by Melbourne’s own Merry People.
5/ How nice would it be to loll about reading a book on this gorgeous daybed? Very nice. That is how nice. I’m reading Sally Rooney’s brilliant Normal People at the moment and I think I would love it even more (if that is possible) if I was snuggled on a pretty daybed. If you are in the market for a daybed, this one is on sale at Gather so get in quick! Also … imagine being able to write like Sally. Gosh.
6/ I love this dress! It’s like a sunshine-y picnic in a frock and is by Australian label Jericho Road. It’s called the KEEN AS Smock Dress. See what they did there?! #MUSTARDYALL!
7/ Save the bees! Plant some seeds! Jolly good idea if you ask me. I love bees and there should be more of them. You can find these seed packets at the very cute Heartfill. They would make a smashing gift.
8/ Something to read? I just read this well-written book by Olga Lorenzo and I really enjoyed it. Zipped through it in a day or two. Perhaps you might like to read it too? It’s full of Melbourne and Gippsland references, which I particularly loved.
9/ This French-y book by foodie The Guardian columnist Felicity Cloake sounds brilliant and I have it on my Wishlist and I’m going to snap it up next!
10/ Oh my gosh I am nuts for these pink pots. Somebody get me them for Christmas please!!
Phew! And that’s it!!
Perhaps there’s something in this jumble of nice things that was JUST the thing you are after? Or perhaps you are just enjoying skimming through as you pat your dog with your foot and wish the neighbour would not use the leaf blower quite so much. That is okay too.
I will back soon with Feeling A Bit Sh*t AND Taking Stock … so stay tuned! If you feel like it! Okay if not!
x pip

I have been eyeing off the Merry People gum boots. The green ones in particular. I am trying to work out how I could possibly justify spending money on them when I have a very good pair of serviceable gardening boots that polish up quite nicely, but never look as nice, if you catch my drift.
I totally feel you! I’m on a tight budget these days, but THOSE BOOTS! ARGH!!! So nice!
That dress! Want, want, wanty want.
Isn’t it so so so pretty?! I’m a fan too, obvs! x
oh Pip, I love window shopping and this is the best.
Good thing I have no disposable income, saves me having to decide if I should buy any of these things, I have put the books on hold at the library.
Cheers Kate
The library seems like a brilliant response to this post, if you ask me! GOOD THINKING, K! x
