:: Miss Marlo Dress :: Sew La Tea Do :: Extra Info!

November 22, 2010

Hello! As is sometimes the case with technical books we have found a printing error. It’s with the Miss Marlo Dress. During the printing process 3 pattern pieces have been scaled down incorrectly. (The back facing is the correct scale.) If you are going to make this dress, please email me so I can help you make the necessary adjustments. We will sort it out together. I will tell you what to do. (You can also email the publisher directly : if I am tardy in replying to you!)

The reprint will contain the pattern as I originally designed it : without the scaling error. I am so sorry if this error has caused you any problems! (I am trying to remain calm too.)
Hope your day is going well!(Good grief!)

xx Pip

Hi there, so (sew?) I buy and then browse your happy book and choose a project, something for me, something to wear (this will be a first), I oh-so-carefully trace the pattern pieces, I prepare my fabric, I cut and start to follow the cheery instructions…and then it all goes wrong. I try and match the bits, it all looks so straightforward in the instructions but I just can’t manage it 🙁 Luckily I find out that it’s not down to my lack of skills as a seamstress, unluckily I have already cut up lots of fabric. I would still love to make this dress. I’ve tried the email link but my computer just gives me an error message. If you could help me to correct the pattern I would be very grateful indeed and who knows, my wibbly sewing confidence might get a little boost! Many thanks.

OH. MY. GOD. I am so so so sorry. 🙁 This was just my worst nightmare, and now I see it has become YOUR nightmare too. If you email the publisher of the book, they should be able to send you the correct pattern pieces in digital format. I can’t apologise enough for this printing error, esp when you have spent time, energy and money unnecessarily. So sorry again, Helen. xxx

Wow, speedy reply! And thank you for your heartfelt commiserations. I have emailed the publishers so hopefully I will yet have the opportunity to sport a Miss Marlo. I’m hoping to develop the skills (ha – optimism!) to re-use the other fabric pieces to make a dress for one of my little daughters so don’t let any printing nightmares spoil your day (the sun’s shining here on the Isle of Skye so no nightmare here)! 🙂
