[…] How To Crochet A Granny Square […]
I also learnt how to crochet with Pip's tutorial. It's the easiest instruction I found on the internet. I started in about November last year doing the granny a day challenge and have sewn together two rows of my blanket (which is going to be heaps bigger than I expected. Twelve rows to go + a gazillion ends to sew in. Can't wait for the finished product!
Totally worth the initial tears, frustration, swearing and violent throwing of the crochet hook.
Those crochet pictures make my heart so happy! My boyfriend, Reuben, taught himself how to crochet using your granny square tutorials! Then he taught me (I'm the kind of person that needs to actually be shown these things to learn). We both love crochet so much now, so thank you Pip!

I will have to try it, It's in the line behind insert zipper, press studs and embriodery. I hope it turns out just like sewing where I say " Gee why did I wait so long to do it."
You are right Pip, it feels like you might never get the hang of it when you first start out – but then you keep trying and trying and trying and it just starts to make sense.
I work in an aged care home and a resident spent hours with me until I got the hang of it, then I went and bought 'meet me at mikes' because I liked how clear the directions were. Your encouraging book kept me going when I got home and lost my way!
Happy crocheting everyone, you can do it! 🙂
I used the tutorials on your blog and the instructions in your book, too teach myself to crotchet granny squares in the last school holidays, I am nearly ready to start crocheting my blanket together! Once you get the hang of it, it is addictive! Can you recommend any good books or links for scarf patterns?
I have countless crochet books and materials at home. I'm yet to even pick up a needle! Might give your tutes a try though 🙂
I also started crocheting after seeing tutorials on your blog about a year ago 🙂 It was very tricky at first, but now I'm well on my way to having a granny blanket!
With help from my Mum and your lovely videos I am almost finished my first granny square blanket! I started in Feb and just have the 1022 threads to sew in! Thanks Pip!!
I'm not much good at the old crochet so I trade a painting to a friend of mine and she made me the most fantabulous scarf with matching fingerless gloves for our Melbourne move.
awesome! this is just what i need now that winter has hit and we're stuck indoors! Have been wanting to learn for ages. youtube has been good too!
thanks for this Pip. I would like to get past the tears stage…
I am loving these posts Pip. I have been saying for like five years that I want to learn to either knit or crochet. I am going to have to take a stab at it.
I started learning from your instructions Pip! About a year ago ,I love it now, but to start with there were many many tears and so much of pulling out rows…I was so determined haha!
I learn to crochet about this time every year. I do a lovely chain stitch, but it is after that that things begin to go pear shaped!
