:: Hi Cuties…

February 10, 2015

Aw hello. How are you going? I am going pretty well, thank you. Things have been busy and I haven’t been sleeping very well so I am needing to get that sorted out quick smart.

Last night Rin’s cat ate two latex gloves and ended up in the animal hospital having emergency surgery. Ugh. Poor Cyril. Poor Rin. Poor Joe. Luckily, Cyril is now okay and recovering from his weird snack. He was making the saddest ‘OWWW’ type meow sound when we were driving him to the vet. The good news is that he’s totally on the mend.

On Sunday, we had Family Feast at our house. It’s a thing I am doing to try to combat the drafty nest problem. It was super fun and I made a delicious meal and the kids loved it (we even had a couple of extra kids at the table). I made a fish curry, a potato curry, ikan bilis, green bean curry and rice.

In honour of Ubud and the BHB crew I also made Coconut Pancakes (from Janet De Neefe’s book) and they were really ace (and green!) I cooked the coconut filling for a bit too long so it was a bit like toasted coconut toffee. Next time I will be careful not to do that.

I’ve been moving out of my studio as we tighten our belts and save up for the move out of our Brunswick Street building later this year. I am really looking forward to that. It’s going to be epic, but our rent is so high it’s unfunny. I am looking forward to NOT having to freak out every time I have to gather up the rent money, that is FOR SURE!

I’ve been making things – a blanket for a cute girl I know AND granny squares (to make a blanket for Defah). I am so fast at crochet now, I realise. I am able to whip things up MUCH faster than I used to. A blanket used to seem like such a big job to me, but I take it in my stride now and get the job done. It’s a nice feeling to have reached that point, especially since I only started to crochet when I was 38 or 39!

This week, Supergraph is on in Melbourne. The Frankie Magazine gang have a stall there and they’re doing craft, making a crowdsourced version of the pompom rug I made for them a while ago. How great is that? If you want to make pompoms and get rugged up with the Frankie team, head to Supergraph. Some lucky person will win the finished rug!

Apart from that, I just found out that I am going to Brisbane for a workshop on Sunday 14th June. I have never been to Brisbane. I’m excited to go and hope I get to meet some nice people while I’m there. (More on that when I find out more).

AND my new book release is looming. The official date is the 22nd April, but it will probably show its cute face a TITCH before then. If you would like to GET IT FIRST, you can preorder via the links at the top right of my blog.

Also I’ve been spending lots of time helping my eCourse students set up their new blogs (and talking about heaps of creative stuff with them too!) Plus I’ve been thinking about doing things like: eating fish and chips on the beach, camping, picnicking, enjoying the view. How about you? What are you doing? And what are you thinking of doing?

Leave your best wishes for Cyril in the comments below. I will make sure Rin reads them.

x Pip

Oh Cyril! Hope he is 100% A O K now. Animals are so naughty sometimes, surely those gloves can’t have been very tasty and yet, two of them munched. I would’ve been frantic with worry and tears – hope Rin has recovered as well! Here’s to no more non -snacky snacks.

Hey Pip! Super exciting to read you’re coming to Brisbane!! I live here and would love to meet you, show you some of the city and scout out a super cute cafe to take you too where we can chat about our love for blogging! Email me if you’re interested 🙂

Great idea about the pom pom rug!!

Seriously Cyril what were you thinking? Cats are such funny creatures, gotta love there quirks but that was not something I’d expect to read about a cat. Hope he’s back to his usual self!
Well my eldest child has just started big school & so I only have one child at home & I kinda though that would make life a little easier re no fights but apparently that just means said younger child will follow me around the house & sook all day & be all clingy making stuff hard to do… missing big brother I guess.. But I’ve just read your big bird nest post & had a bit of a sob.. I know I need to make the most of this stage while it lasts. My son told me to “go stand over there Mum” at his first swimming carnival yesterday. I get Mummy guilt all the time about how I should ‘do more’ and then it’s exhausting & emotionally draining dealing with all the tantrums & fights & whining but this is what life’s about right? Parenting is tough like that, you never feel like you are enough. Maybe it’s just me.
Anyway so this new no baby stage (5.5 & 2.5 yos) means I decided this year to DO stuff for me rather than just think about it (hopefully will make for a less cranky Mum too) so I’ve ordered a cool reid cycles bike, just started a calligraphy course, planning on going to basket weaving class & hopefully also going to learn how to use my sewing machine… also pondering how to move forward in my creative dreams, looking forward to your new book, wondering whether to start blogging again, if I should change my blog/Instagram name.. and how on earth I’m gonna do it & balance the chores (which I’m hopeless at anyway)
Sorry for the essay.. You did ask ????

Is Cyril a Scottish Fold? My two (Angus and Stirling) wish him well!

Cyril is way too friggin adorable for words!!! So glad he’s on the mend.
Wow you are such a busy gal! I love that you are super speedy at crochet… I’m getting there… slowly…ha… and I’ve only be crocheting for about 5 years. God I love it!
I am thinking about putting my camp chair in the river on a warm day and crocheting when I get away for a little r&r break soon – I can’t wait!

Aw, Cyril… so tiny and cute! Glad he is recovering well. He needs a comfy blanky and a few gentle ruffles 🙂
My open plan apartment is my studio, so hard to keep tidy!
You get so much done in a day Pip! I wish I was half as productive as you 🙂

Cyril is totally gorgeous! I just want to give him big hugs and lots of cat kisses. Hope he is back to his normal little feline self soon. 🙂

I am 44 and still hoping to learn to crochet one day.
But at the moment I am busy learning all about crystals. I have been getting better sleep by placing 3 tumble stones under my pillow 1. Amethyst 2. Red Jasper 3. Howlite. You might imagine they’d feel a little lumpy but you don’t feel them at all! I finish off my night time crystal therapy with a hematite crystal at my feet. Works a treat for a good nights sleep I’m finding. I loved all that news Pip but sorry to hear about the little cat but it sounds like he will be OK.

I am 37 and planning to learn to crochet over the next few months. I was wondering if I had left it too late. lol. Glad to hear that you were also an adult when you learnt Pip. That inspires and comforts me. Best wishes to Cyril.
