:: A Granny A Day (How To Crochet A Granny Square!)

Are you joining in with A Granny A Day? Or maybe you WISH you could, but are not sure how to crochet? Well I am here to help! Yep!

See all those lovely squares and blankets up there? They are projects I’ve uploaded to our Granny A Day group on Flickr.   True!

You might already know this, but I started A Granny A Day in 2009 as a really good way to learn to crochet, or a good way to be a bit disciplined (shudder!) and crochet regularly.  There are a ton of participants and over 3000 photos in our A Granny A Day group now! OMG!  That’s a lot of hooking, right?!

You don’t have to know how to crochet to be part of A Granny A Day. I can teach you. Learn to crochet here (with videos!)  Also, don’t freak out.  You don’t have to crochet every day. You just set your own agenda and join in and do your best.  Maybe you are the Granny A Week kind? That’s okay!

Do you want to Granny A Day with me?   Here’s some of the ways to take part.

Join the group on Flickr (if you don’t have an account, it’s free to sign up and a great way of storing your photos!)  You can upload photos of your work there, if you like, or you can just look at everyone else’s!

Join the Granny A Day Pinterest board!  Just email me your Pinterest account details (type ADD ME TO PINTEREST in the subject line) and I’ll add you as a contributor (I’ll try to add people daily, or at least every other day.)  Then you can pin your favourite Granny Square photos (squares you have made or squares you WANT to make! Other people’s lovely squares : with a link back!)

You can post on Instagram using the #grannyaday tag too!

Or you can sign up on this this blog too!  Just add your details here or below, with all those cute faces!
Phew! There are lots of ways to join the Granny A Day community!  Choose the one/s which suit you best. Or you can just Granny along quietly and be a secret member. That’s okay too!  Yay.
So would you like to join us?! We’d LOVE to crochet with you. Or help you learn to crochet!
Are you grannying along? Do you want to learn?

xx Pip

Hurrah!

Oooh I'm so excited! I signed up to your 2009 and was so pleased I learnt how to crochet but I never made enough grannies for my blanket. This is really timely!

I love this! What a fabulous project! I'm just waiting for the days to get a bit shorter, then I'll join in…
(@ Anonymous – I think it's quite hard to learn crocheting/knitting from a book. Have you tried online videos? There are a lot of them all over the web (try youtube) and they really help – it's almost like a friend explaining the different steps:) and you can watch them over and over)!

    Hi Pip,
I bought all the crocheting gear, and your book, and I studied and studied but I couldn't do it. That was almost 2 years ago though, maybe it's time for a fresh try. I may psych myself up for joining in, wish me luck! xkate
