Elizabeth. You have totally made my day! That’s so great! I hope other people get inspired by your story and keep trying until they have their ‘Eureka’ moment! It’s really the best thing ever when it all comes together and you ‘get it’ huh?!

Thankyou so much for sharing so much crochet!
I never, ever thought I was going to be able to crochet, I had tried so many times over the last few years since I discovered wools! But I could never get it. I was always left with a giant big knot and a whole lot of frustration & disappointment! I have always loved those bright, loud scrappy afghan/granny style blankets but never thought I could actually make one!
Then I saw one of your posts which had a link to a free granny square pattern on CrochetAustralia. So I printed out the basic crochet instructions as well, and instead of learning the techniques before beginning (like,um, smart people do) – i taught myself treble as I was making my first-ever granny square! I made 7 of those little granny squares (the first 5 all turned out completely different to each other even though I used the same pattern-but I got it right in the end!).
I've gotten a wee bit carried away and have already made one giant granny square, that is 15 rounds, and have started a second, and am already up to the 10th round.
And I only started my first-ever granny last Thursday!
My plan for the giant granny squares is to have 4×4 rows joined by black yarn to make a blanket.
I have been doing cross stitching since I was 12 (10 years!), and beading for 4 years, and am studying Dressmaking & Pattern cutting. I am still only a beginner knitter & crocheter though!
Thank you so much for all the craft that you share on your site, living in an area where I am the only person I know who is my age & does craft can be a bit sad sometimes! Looking at craft blogs makes me feel like I am sharing craft with others!

I think I like this one best so far. It’s a great color match.
